Always look forward to the big sporting events especially making memories of watching them with my children

Still remember watching stuff with my brothers and dad in the middle of the night on a black and white telly...usually Ali boxing but also The Olympics and The World Cup

Now my son actually said he's not sure if he'll watch this one because Qatar bribed to get it and the amount of people who died building the stadium

He's been talking in school about it and some of his mates feel the same

Will you watch it or is it tainted enough for you not to enjoy it

Will watch it. Can't see all that's gone on harming it too much. It's not right.

Will probably watch it sporadically. But it is one of the lowest profile World Cups I've ever seen!

No hype or big adds by sponsors or anything...They know!

As for Beckham, the sleaze bag. What a cretin!

Have been debating it in my head for a bit now. Still not sure. Delighted to hear the younger generation are debating it too.

Not invested in it because I won't be supporting any team but I'll watch it when I get a chance.

FIFA uncovered on Netflix is worth a watch though.

Unless it is an interesting match I might watch it. I hope it is a flop.

I do not watch much English Premier football anyway, prefer league of Ireland.

i travel all over

As soon as it gets started everyone will forget the background story

Morality and football are very complex

How do we know what the owners of football clubs invest in and are involved in ?

I can’t remember a time with so many potential winners

Possibly 8 potential winners with no dominant force

I won't be going out of my way to avoid it but I won't be planning my day around watching it either apart from the final maybe.

If I'm at home with nothing to do, I'll flick it on and will most likely go for pints with a friend for the final. That's about it.

All true. Every country that's involved in it is corrupt at some level and all of them have blood on their hands in some way- so I don't see how any media from any country can point the finger at all. I'll be concentrating on the football.

Will probably miss most games anyway with work, but it isn't a real world cup and Qatar isn't a real football nation so would gladly give it a miss

People will still watch it regardless of the negative spin that's being put on it whether it be workers/gay rights or paying bribes its still the world Cup

Will I watch Soccer in Quatar? I haven't been watching Olympics in ruSSia, nor China, so: No, without saying thank you...

From the other hand, as many said on here, many people don't give a damn about justice, human rights, bribery, shady dealings. Same as every general elections in Ireland, FFG all the way every single time...for a change?

I guess I've to support my country.

Group B is quite something:

England - USA - Iran - Wales

As for boycotting, yeah I get all that stuff but where's the outrage at any other time of the year? Surely we give a fuck where our oil/fuel is coming from and many head for holiers in one of the GCC countries, which have all human rights issues.

As a host nation you can’t get any worse really but I’ll still watch the games.

Money is always involved in these sort of things and other nations have been bribing to get what they want for years.
