"Everyone must have seen the papers by now, so we're just sharing a quick summary of what actually happened. We take great care to ensure all people on our guest lists are trustworthy individuals. One of the staff snapped a sneaky photo off the room. Photo is blurry, dark and few people that are in it aren't recognisable. They do not have any more photos and if they did - they wouldn't be allowed to post them as it is covered by revenge porn act. We were never approached by staff on the night nor any days after with any concerns whatsoever. The way we found out about any of this was through a hand delivered note in our letterbox from the journalist. We had two options: 1. Deny everything, not comment, hide, hope for the best and wake up to a scandalous story saying how we organised perverted orgies on BCC grounds or whatever else we were being accused of. 2. Come forward and tell our side of the story and what actually happened and what kind of event it was - a social black tie masquerade with no other hidden agendas. As far as we're concerned- nothing happened at the event that wouldn't happen in any other vanilla venue on a regular Saturday night. We have contacted every single person who attended privately ahead of the news coming out and let them know exactly what was happening. We have come forward to protect our own and other people's reputation. It is really upsetting that grown up adults can't have a night out without some scandal being attached to it. So far from what we have observed on social media - this story is unpopular and not newsworthy. We will not be making any more comments on this matter on this or any other threads. "

"I wasn’t at the function but my thoughts are with you and your guests, who have done nothing wrong but are the subject of such a hoary old staple of cliched journalism. I don’t envy you the decisions you had to make when contacted by the press and I think you’ve handled yourselves with dignity and class. I hope it all blows over for you soon"

"Sorry to hear this happened the rags have nothing better to be doing then trying to find some salacious story for click bait. This country is so fucking backwards when it comes to sex. " This country is backward with absolutely everything, not just sexuality. If our circumstances allowed, we'd be gone back to the country our kids were born. We are both Irish btw,but this country is fucked with red tape and Sinn Fèin

They are promising far away fields to the 20 somethings and will not be able to deliver. This has all to do with the OP, and the context the OP felt they had to clear themseleves. "(Wasn't there) I think you handled it well, and bravely too. Hopefully it'll blow over. Nobody below about sixty gives a toss any more anyway. Do they? I'm sure there are local journalists all over this site too. Sadly, some of them will think what they're doing is "right". Keep on trucking. " Wasn't there but a lot of folk about or over sixty don't give a toss either age hasn't got a thing to do with narrow minded Sunday paper editors In a world where things are mad .What harm were these people doing wrong ?? In my over sixty mind nothing at all Keep swinging everyone

"As I was down in Dublin on Sunday, at the rejuvenated Marathon, observing and enjoying, not an entrant, I did not read Ciaran Barnes's Sunday Life item about the Malone House event. The principal Sunday rags in Ireland are Sunday Life and Sunday World, both very low quality papers that focus on hyperbolic and sensationalist stories For the future, it is well known that when these rags publish a story they tend to pursue it for several years, updating readers with new details whilst reprinting the original story. The organisers of future events will need to be extremely circumspect about the location of future events. Newspaper employees will also infiltrate the site in order to gather more information; this is their modi operandi. " A bunch of adults played hen party dare cards (you can pick up a pack in any pound shop for reference), were having a few drinks and danced together. There is no story. There is nothing to infiltrate or "expose", no gossip, no drama, nothing to scare anyone with. Nobody even read the thing online as it was hidden behind a pay wall. Just a scary headline which was mostly ridiculed by public for not having anything more important to post. Please stop.

" Jubal1 is correct in what he is saying though..the paper will delight in updating the readership regardless. Even though this should not be a story in 21st century, we all know this sort of story will still be reported and read because ppl lime titillation and a whiff of scandal in their local papers
