Well done to anyone who ran, jogged or walked the marathon today.

It was a great day for the race and great crowds cheering people on.

I travelled down to Dublin to specifically watch the event, and timed my entry to the Phoenix Park very accurately; just in time to see the elite group pass back: athleticism at the top level, and most notably they were all from the Horn of Africa or East Africa. Lithe, supremely fit and they flowed by, quite effortlessly!

An amazing spectacle.

Marathon runners ROCK !!! It's not just the event , it's the amount of mile's covered in training to run the Marathon, the wear and tear of a person's ankles..knees .hips... Whatever... .it takes a huge all round effort to run a Marathon. .Well done everyone

I read the other day that 25,000 tickets were issued for the marathon but only 18,500 collected their numbers.

There were 17,500 finishers.

Which leaves 6,500 did not collect there numbers for whatever reason. While cheering on the runners, I notice runners without numbers. Can't understand why organiser's cannot hold tickets back closer to the day

Jim Aughney, the director of the event, stayed in an online interview that this year's event was unusual in that those who had received entry numbers for 2020, which obviously did not take place, were able to retain their numbers for this year, but many did not show.

The situation should have stabilised for next year's event, assuming that the pandemic virus does not reach a new crisis zenith, again!
