The hardest step is that first one saying you are not okay but don't be afraid to take it.

Great thread to see, it's definitely better to share thoughts or feelings if down with someone or anyone than bottle it up

The most important and telling word in the title is"awareness".

It's not just important to make people aware of how widespread these issues are but equally important to make people more self aware and recognise certain traits within themselves and not dismiss them.

Mental health is a buzz word that too many people use to excuse certain behaviour but too many others fall between the cracks because they either don't recognise their own issues or refuse to acknowledge what they see as weakness.

Just had another reminder today about importance of mental health. Found out at lunch time that a 15yr old at my kids school hung himself last night. Local community is in shock over this. Have had a chat with my kids, who are of similar age, about it all and pleaded with them to talk if they have issues.

Its really devastating that a 15yr old feels that it was the only avenue he had. I feel for his parents and his family, nothing can prepare any parent for that.

Im really unable to articulate how upset it makes me feel, I only wish I could have help the poor boy. May he rest in peace

Honestly I feel for you and I hope you have someone to talk to.

Its clear your coming from a place of sadness and compassion.

At the same time, it might be best not to post things about others with such details as it may cause upset if recognized.

This is not a slight at yourself ... you did this from your heart clearly .
