About a year or so ago I went into a fairly popular bar in Belfast and whilst having a piss some little shite bag half my size called me a feinan bastard. He must have heard me talking out side and followed me in to say it to me but backed down quickly when i told him to fuck off before cave his skull in. Now in saying that I've been up north loads of times and stayed in different areas and rarely had any trouble before but there are dickheads everywhere

There's good and bad not just on both sides of the political divide or both sides of the border but indeed the world over. I generally find people being objectionable rarely has anything to do with where they live and more to do with them as a person. So in summary, don't listen to the scaremongering and enjoy your time in N.I

Crikey, the op is looking for some sexy encounters and some turn it into something else. He wasn't looking for scaremongering. Surely there isn't everything rosy where he comes from or any other places in the republic.

There's many lovely people from the North on here, some posting on a daily basis and it doesn't sound like their life is in constant danger.

He’s lucky….. I learned very young having a southern accent up North isn’t good thing and that was playing underage sports

I've lived up here for a few years now and I've only once had anyone comment negatively on my accent he was just a gobshite.The same goes for a few friends who have an English accent I think they have very rarely had anyone comment on theirs .

Lived here all my life and worked in areas that were considered to be opposite ends of the political and religious spectrum. Some people on here really need to give their heads a wobble and stop tossing grenades into every thread.

I've seen first hand some of the worst atrocities anyone could imagine and I've seen first hand some of the most amazing acts of kindness and compassion by people from all communities.

Trying to make out that people in NI are any different from other parts of Ireland just makes you look sad.

There are equally as many little scrotes in every city in the world.

Most of my friends are from the 6 counties, I've never met people more easy to get along with also at the same time being direct and not suffering fools, they certainly have something people from the Republic don't possess

Yep in a bar on my own, but the restaurant I ate in was lovely, the hotel was lovely, the people in the ships were lovely. I wouldn't judge a society on one night in a bar.

I'm off to Belfast this weekend for two nights and can't wait .

Sure if you say your going to limerick people warn you about stab City, if your going to dublin your told avoid the temple bar area yet i know lovely people from limerick and even some nice ones from Dublin.

That accent shit is not have as prevalent as some like to make out ... I was staying in belfast city few weeks ago... on the streets till 2/3 in morning. Talking etc ... in club areas .. shops .. churches... in certain areas where people told me mind myself... not an issue not a problem nottin and my God I met some d*unk amongst other things people ...

Never got abuse because of my southern accent, the actions of others changed when they heard it. Especially those in authority…. Just my experience
