Let's talk about pic hunting

We're suspected/accused of pic hunting sometimes as we ask for face pics upfront. Establishing mutual attraction early on is important to us and we absolutely appreciate those who understand and respect this.

We totally respect those who wish to keep their faces to themselves... You do you- it's cool xx

As for pic hunting... I'm at a loss as to what we would actually do with face pics. Sure we could post them to some other social media site or something but like.. if they're just your face (and not a dirty pic), does it make a difference? Honestly just curious what people are individually concerned about so please excuse my naivety.

Ireland is small...anyone putting a detective hat on, can find out lots about someone, with a face pic, a snapshot of the profile and any body shots...possibly stalk if there's been a social, meet or otherwise... people are private and don't want face, nudes and possible personal information gained, distributed on social media or amongst family, friends and colleagues...

Or that's what I'd be thinking. Thankfully I haven't been on the receiving end bar having body pics used on fake profiles. I can handle that...

Aye true enough.. I forget sometimes what it feels like to care if people know (or care) about our sex life - it's been a long time for us so I appreciate the reminder xx

I'm curious if anyone has any evidence of this actually happening or is it just general precaution that guides people?

I know there are nefarious people out there but we operate on the assumption that generally most people are either well intentioned or simply can't be bothered to take the time to try and ruin some strangers' lives.

Now and again we get first messages from couples profiles which include a face pic. They are usually young and good looking. The message is friendly and looks like it's written by the female. All looks good and a newbie would be tempted to send a face pic in their reply.

You do a bit of research and see that the profile has been verified just once and after a few of these messages, you see the same guys profile popping up as the only veri. This has happened at least five times now.

Assume he's a pic collector and uses the face pics he receives to send to others via fake couples profiles, purely for his own titillation.

Problem is he could send your face pic to your neighbour some day.

So we no longer swap face pics as it's too risky and it only tells part of the story anyway.

You have absolutely nothing to lose if you don't care, as in truly don't care, if nudes and faces are used maliciously against you. I'd have an attitude of - what harm can they do myself?

But when you have children in school who may be teased and bullied about it, when you have a job with a certain company or are in the public eye, when you have older loved ones who'd literally cut contact, or if you are cheating on a partner, then you are vulnerable on a site like this with pics.

If there's an intention of pics being used nefariously, you can rest assured that there will be some repercussions somewhere along the line in your life, maybe where you least expect it - even if you say you don't give a toss...

2 men I have met socially, have been outed to their respective wives. They were both cheating at the time so I suppose some would say they got what they deserved...(I'll refrain from judgement).

To be honest, I've rarely been attracted to a face in a face pic. It gives very little info on whether there will be attraction as it doesn't tell me anything about their attitude, confidence or how they carry themselves, if that makes sense? Mrs

All good points, A la carte... We come from different cultural backgrounds so it's been an interesting journey/experience to explore the Irish side of things... There's a fascinating mix of sexual freedom (or the desire to have it) and puritanical guilt (presumably in part due a tradition of Catholic guilt?)

That totally makes sense. For us, it's not about finding someone's face attractive (though we do value that)... we simply don't want to engage in a long chat with someone only to discover we find them unattractive. It's a bit shallow but we've learned this method works better for us as it's better to be branded being pic hunters than being timewasters.

We are "out" to nearly everyone who knows us so giving out facepics to potential meets is no issue at all (as you know )

We don't really care about what people think about us. We are already the black sheep of the village who don't go to mass, and have the pride flag in the window, don't go to the local Catholic school, and do weird jobs.... and we like it that way. The curtain twitchers can twitch as much as they like.

Also - We wouldn't dream of wasting precious babysitting time on someone who we only realise that we don't fancy when we meet. Facepics are critical.

If someone wanted to call US pic collectors, well thats just fine. Call us what you want. We really don't give a rats ass.

I remember a notorious pic hunter here who would get other people's face pics to share with their mates here privately in a effort to get social credit from from them and their own amusement. I never understood it. One of the reasons we avoid the face pic Friday threads like a plague. the ones hunting for dirty pics likely just want them for their wank bank.

That's why we prefer to meet people at large socials and parties because we could be chatting online for weeks to discover upon meeting that there's no attraction. We value other people's time as well.

After a while, we find out what works for us I suppose

Yes, background would definitely give a different perspective...I'm not Irish born and bred either but in Ireland a few decades so the Irish mentality rubs off somewhat . I wouldn't be worried about me or my "reputation" so much as impact on my children as such...

I've no issues sharing a face pic, must upload an up to date 1, but I'd rather be told straight away that I'm not someone's type rather than endless messaging only to find out at a social that you might not be their cup of tea

We never send out face pictures as I wouldn't like them geting into the worng hands we had someone use mrs pictures before on a fake profile and didn't want to take it down it wasn't a face pictures it was only a body pic if we meet someone after chatting and they are not our cup of tea or we are not there it not the end of the world

I'll send a face pic if I have been chatting for a while and thinking about meeting. I don't send one at first because I don't want to,as face pics and people's info are shared to others on here a lot. I've had my face pic shared I have also had someone sharing my name ( albeit the wrong name) to others .Both of those doing this to me are well known fabbers on the forums who use others info as currency to keep the themselves popular with others. What people don't realise is tho that they are most likely sharing their info as well as others.

It's nothing to do with guilt of being on here either,but I have always kept my private life private I don't need to nor ever felt the need to shout it from the rooftops what I do in my spare time or that I am on here.

I do however think it's everyone right to have privacy and not have their info shared and I think those who do it are the lowest of the low the same as those who try and gather info on others to use against them.

And yes people on here have been outed to family and friends before by someone who had a grudge against them.

There is a chat group rumoured to be sharing face pics and although I have nothing to hide its also no-ones business that I'm on here, I've seen people's pics been used on profiles and other sites.

I've received one or two messages saying oh I seen you in such a place , yet when asked who they are they hide behind a blank profile and don't think it's weird that they have contacted me.

Some people will share some won't and I wouldn't ask anyone for a facepic up front plus I can't decide from a pic if there's going to be an attraction

Completely agree here, first time seeing a face on a social meet. No problem sharing face pics with a genuine meet but how do you filter out the weirdos in messages?

On a similar thread a while back I said that of the 20 or so people who posted I had met 6 of them but only knew the real first name of 3 of them and the full name of one.

However I had also been sent facepics, full names and workplace details of 2 other posters in that thread by a popular and productive fabber who also contributed to that thread.

Their reason for sending them was apparently because I had a difference of opinion with both women in another thread and the sender felt it was only right I had some ammunition to use against them.

That told me a lot more about the person sending them than anything else and when I asked how they had got all this info they said they had met and verified them a couple of years before and had exchanged details at that time.

Like seriously? Wtf goes through some people's heads and why would they be keeping 2 year old facepics and files on people they chat to and meet?

And before fingers are pointed they were not sent by a man.

Everyone should report people who breach privacy of other members in such a way, even if it's off the site. It can help admin make decisions in the future even if they dont/can't take action on them in that instance. It takes less than 2 mins.

We never share face pics on fab, don't want it to be screenshotted on the site. We always move to Kik quickly, live pic back and forth like neck down in clothes, or some kind of hand signal, just so we know everyone is real and there and then do a face pic swap after that.

Has worked well for us so far.
