Doesn’t matter where you are from but your mammy is your mammy and I know as a dad I do as much as I can for my kids and I’m sure every father on here does the same well I would like too think so I suppose I’m asking do daddy’s get a bad break because they are the strict ones usually?

And some deserve the bad breaks but the good ones are keepers

Will always try my best as a dad and a partner /husband as you can tell I’m a husband and the boss or the wife is an amazing person all so since herself started too interact on fab we’ve got some messages that are ridiculous too be honest so hopefully fab will work for us sometime but we are in no rush

We all have our own patenting styles and I dont think it's right to say that dad's are the strict one. Every family is different and it's always a case of compromise between parents with regards parenting style.

My dad wasn't the strict parent, that was my mother. Saying that we were more scared of my dad when we were in trouble as he had a foul temper when he eventually lost it. I would say I'm the stricter parent in the house now though.

outside belfast x

Brought up by a single mom myself and bringing up my daughter by myself I'd say...so I'd say my dad who is no longer with us and her dad that walked away many years ago got a good break out of parenting...and I get one or two nights a month to get a bit of a break for myself...so I can't complain really....

Regular breaks are needed for parents who step up aswell x

I'm a full time solo dad of a 3yo boy with ASD level 3.

I do my best every day to be the opposite dad and partner(when I had one) than my father were. This year I just decided, for the sake of my mental health, stop to talk to him.

Nothing in your experience remotely matches mine of either my own parents or the genetic contributor ex-husband.

Perhaps you could open the thread up to a wider variety of experiences.

But many will find this triggering, myself included so I'll leave it there.

Didn’t start this thread too trigger anything in anyone and maybe I’m guilty of wording it wrong but for me you knew your where in trouble when your mom said wait till your dad gets home so I apologize if this has stirred anything in anyone but you don’t also have too contribute

I lost my dad when I was very young but for the short time I had with him he was never the strict one but then again neither was mum. They both had their moments. I've had my moments with my own kids but I've never been overly strict.

My dad was the easy going one and my mother used to say to us " wait till your dad gets home" but she was the one with the wooden spoon

Me neither but back in the day my mom would always say wait till your dad gets home 99 percent off the time he would just use his voice and that was enough

My mother was the one wielding the wooden spoon but she had to put up with us for much more of the day than my Dad had

I always have respect for both and each taught us manners and respect but my mother was always the stricter one.

A little has rubbed off on me with my own kids but I do always hope that they see me more like my Dad than my Mother, if that makes sense.

Sorry, beer kicking in now
