"Get yourself signed up for parkrun... Though it isn't officially a race it is a great place to regularly test yourself. If you want to find races go to the athletics ni website and they have a page with all the upcoming events throughout the year. Anyone aiming for the marathon next year?" I been doing that for a while but I have been looking at some of the more official 5k and 8k ones, there are a few I’m looking at before Christmas. i nearly had a go at walking a half marathon but the old plantar fasciitis kicked in

"It you have an interest in running I'd recommend the strava app. You can sync all your runs there using a fitness tracker, smart watch or phone... Great way to track your progress as you become a more experienced runner. You can also find plenty of local, national and international running communities to join, you'll also find plenty of runs and races on there to take part in, plenty are virtual so you run them by yourself and upload your time. Loads of benefits to using that app. Check out popup races too they have and app and post regular race meets on social media. A. " Do you have to pay for the strata app. I use a basic garmin watch, which records some interesting info

"Brilliant, I participate in alot of marathons around Europe. A few tips..start by setting your distance and a heartbeat.. Stick to this until you are doing the same distance but at a lower rate. If forearms are sweating you are running hard If you get a stich hold your arms above your head Have 2pairs of training shoes and swap after each run And finally enjoy your running and don't over do it " Good comment on the double training shoes
