This isn't exactly fab related but do you feel sometimes like you always leave a bad first impression? Or would you say it's the other way around?

What can a person do to recover? If they can?

First impressions are very much based on the other party. If you be yourself you can’t do much more. No point trying to pretend your something or someone else as over time your habits creep in and you get found out. Some will like you some won’t, just how it goes in my experience

A multiplicity of factors have shaped my personality for well over six decades and I accept who I am, warts and all.

I do not deliberately or with callous regard set out to leave a so-called bad impression on others.

But you cannot please everyone, and I no longer care what impression I leave on others, at the first meeting or otherwise

Curious as to why you feel that you always leave a bad impression.

I believe that we can be our own harshest critic and if you overthink things, they almost always turn negative in some way.

I am polite and mannerly and treat people as I would like to be treated so if I don't make a good first impression, maybe these people aren't meant to be in my life!

It's very rare that my first impression of someone is wrong and I'm sure the same is true for anyone meeting me.

I'm not conscious of creating any particular impression at the time but I have met people who are trying too hard.

If you are aware that you are repeatedly leaving a poor first impression it could be because it's forced and not natural.

Recovery is not down to you and will only lead to digging a bigger hole.

I'm a big advocate of first impressions as they do last. My gut is usually right in most cases but I would generally give the person another chance if I felt that they might have been having a bad day

They say that we are able to make an assessment of someone’s attractiveness in the blink of an eye, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that those assessments are accurate.

By discounting some people in an instant we might also be missing out.

Many mature people are considerably more complex than the assessment that is made at first instance.

I had a hunch before i even checked your profile that you might be young OP.

The people responding to your post show the benefit of life experience, we know its a waste of energy overthinking what we could have/should have done.

The funny thing is, the less you worry about how you appear to others, the more likely it is that others will be comfortable in your company and will thus have a favourable impression of you - ironic isn't it?

I totally agree with you. I have put myself under pressure in the past trying to be what I thought I needed to be to be accepted in a certain situations and certain people. Turned out it was the wrong place and wrong people for me so I walked away.

Much happier now Im my own person

The happier you are in your own skin the better the first impressions you make. Just be yourself, follow your gut and fuck the begrudgers

Apparently it takes twenty further good impressions to rewrite a bad first. Which I would think is true. However I feel it's more of a initially bad vibe which would make me cautious of someone when I first meet them.

Exactly.

A long time becoming the person I am so I don't put on airs and graces if I meet someone, what you see is what you get.

And as I read somewhere on fab, I'm not not everyone's cup of tea but I am someone's glass of champagne
