Moment of clarity

i travel all over

Have you ever had a moment where something became super clear to you in terms of how you should live your life ?

Mine was following a night out where me and two friends said that we would go on a weekend away together. We agreed to meet at a travel agency the next day to book. I turned up . They didn’t . I went away by myself and had a great time . But whilst I am still good friends with both it was the day when it became very clear that ‘no one can make my happy but myself’.

The one that stands out for me is I was seeing a counsellor and for the the first few sessions I was only going through the motions, not taking it too seriously and waiting for her to give me the quick fix. But one night I was invited to a friends house party I basically shut down, I didn’t know too many people there and even the ones I did know I was barely able to talk to them. It was a this point I knew there were no quick fixes and I had better start taking the sessions seriously.

Far far away

After a night out I realised that I'm attracted to a certain type of man. This was after a 15 year marriage where I didn't actually look at the opposite sex. My aha moment was why am I compromising myself and what I like but accepting things.

I can clearly remember the events that made me give up drinking for good. A stark reminder to myself of how close we are at any given moment to having the lights switched out.

There was that one happy moment in my life when a GF (Lorraine) broke it off with me.

She was always full of doom and gloom!

But when she left….

I could see clearly now Lorraine had gone ,

and I could see all obstacles in my way….

The official retirement age, when a person with sufficient contributions can formally claim the state person is currently 66 in Northern Ireland, although that is set to increase in increments over the next 10-15 years.

I could not overstate the change in my mentality, and my view of life that having now formally retired has had on me.

My income for the reminder of my life is now guaranteed and the other ducks that I have been shepherding for years are all now in a row, to my satisfaction!
