It must be nice to have a mainstream interest such as soccer football or GAA sports that appear to be so pervasively reported in all the print, broadcast and online media.

Frankly, it it something I have never connected with or related to, ever, but I do not criticise others for this captivating interest.

To illustrate my point I happened to be in a popular Dublin cafe this afternoon and enquired off a lady at the next table why there appeared to be so many people outside wearing Kerry GAA attire

She was mystified that I was totally unaware of the female GAA final that her team were playing in, at Croke Park.

I genuinely had to ask her if Croke Park was the large stadium north of where we were dining!

Football, where the Association football or GAA code has never been a part of my life, even though Michael O,Hehir was compulsory listening at home, on the transistor radio from the 1950s onwards!
