When you see temperatures of 30 plus in Ireland , do you think ‘wonderful’ or think of climate warming ?

When a rich philanthropist donates money to a cause , do you think ‘generous’ or look for other motives ?

Do you take things at face value or do you overthink ?

I've always been an overthinker but more about things that happen around me with people I know etc, the rest of the world I just think off with them.

Can’t help but think that corporations are struggling to get people back in the office after Covid and are concerned about their rent then the price of heating goes through the roof, forcing people back into their nice warm offices over winter…..

I over think everything to do with myself and I also find it easier to assume that everyone is a cunt until proven otherwise.

Question who’s actually making the assertion and why?

What’s the reasoning behind it?

Yeah -I over think everything

My glass is definitely half full. I tend to take things at face value until I have a solid reason not to. There are a lot more genuine people out there than there are assholes in my opinion.

So just be kind to each other as a default setting.

If and when you discover an asshole has done you wrong, Then you can release the fires of hell on them

My next thesis will be on something far more boring

There is actually no such concept as 'overthinking'.

If anyone uses this term to describe you, what they are actually conceding is that they do not the power to think as deeply and intensely as you can.

To overtly call someone an overthinker is a critical but also a compliment.

Some people analyse issues superficially whilst some cogitate intensively.

There is no fault on either person: they are different modi operandi.

"I overthink my overthinking "

This could be termed: metacognition.

That's interesting I used to do that years ago when I hadn't time to analyse everything,

Now I dig deep to find the good in everyone sometimes though I feel like a coal miner

Paralysis by analysis.. sometimes you have to disengage the niggle thoughts and crack on. Alcohol is the greatest enabler

I don't think questioning motivations is overthinking. NOT questioning motivations is naivety. If you want to see the whole picture then you have to look beyond what you're being told and examine the "who, why, how, what, when" before accepting.

Who is this person and where are they coming from? What does this person want from you? Are they attempting to influence you? Is the timing or the situation a little too convenient? Are they looking out for your interests or their own? What it to be gained or lost for you, and for them?

On reflection (overthinking?) I suspect a lot of people do this on a subconscious way, even if they aren't aware of it. They sense that something is "off" or have a "gut feeling". That's their subconscious realising that not everything can be taken at face value.
