We all have them...what about death? How do you feel about your own mortality?

I'm not afraid of death - but I am afraid of going painfully and the end being dragged out over a long time, as well as leaving prematurely and not having everything in place for my children...reminds me, I need to update my final will and testament - do you have yours in place?

I have fears I die suddenly and my parents will be sorting out my house and will think I was a professional domme with the amount of stuff hiding under my bed. But I have Fab friends who have promised to deal with all that. I'll have to write it up in the will who gets my Lelo toys. I also want them to make sure I'm dressed in my finest black Honeybirdette lingerie so I won't be the only stiff at the wake...

Jaysus keep it light hearted guys

I used to be terrified of death.my own, but even more so of those close to me. That fear absolutely ruined my life, suffering numerous panic attacks weekly. without going into details, my outlook on life absolutely changed, actually exactly 10 years ago this month, after a life changing experience that made me realise how lucky we all are to be here for as long as we have

Panic attacks stopped and have stayed away for the last 10 years

You're all set so as not to send your parents to an early grave too

Sometimes it's good to self reflect

Delighted to hear those panic attacks have subsided...

Not afraid of death but wouldn't like to hang around being sick either

Spoke to my family and they know I'd be on the first plane to Switzerland to organise Dignitas to help me on my way ( there's a one off joining fee )

I'm shit scared of leaving my family to be honest but only because I have the silly idea that they need me but I'm sure they'd be fine

South Side.

I have a fear of being buried alive. Im not afraid of dying, though.

Ive overcome a lot of my fears, shyness, talking in public, giving presentations, poor body image, etc, and all the fears that go with them.

Most of our fears are imaginary and created in our minds! They are not real but made up! So how can you be afraid of something that is not real?

But what can she really do to you at your age - if you are autonomous, and not relying on her for anything in life?

Im not worried about dying too soon, living too long is worse IMO. My children will be left provided for, unless my nursing home care eats it all up

.

If anything people are my worst fear. The vast majority of pain and hurt are caused by people.

.

Death is not scary at all. It could even be a mercy and a relief of pains.

You sound like you're in a place I was once upon a time.

Yes, people are often the cause of untold pain - but they can also be the cause of so much joy and love...we're so much more resilient than we think and I, for one, don't want to have regrets for not letting people into my heart in fear of getting hurt.

I (try to) live by the quote "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all".

We thrive on love, much more so than hate and anger.

I used to be consumed with fear. Constantly in fear of being judged or of not being adequate. A lot of that would have stemmed from the household I grew up in - loving but dysfunctional.

It was only after going into treatment for alcohol that I started to become aware of all that. I got into meditation and became aware of how fear was a constant undercurrent.

Fast forward 10 years and meditation has transformed me. Now I use the inevitability of death as a cure for fear bcos I just try to imagine how much fear I will feel when I'm dead.

(Where's that bloody edit button already?)

Eternity, the fact that something can go on forever without end is terrifying. But the opposite is equally terrifying.

Regardless, both are out of my control so I put those worries to the side most of the time.

I never thought about it that way but when you say it like that, it is scary as hell - so the motto is "grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference, living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; taking this world as it is and not as I would have it"

I'd say I fear not being able to change myself long-term, though I've achieved a lot of life goals.

Other than that, leaving family behind and maybe climate change.

My main one is one of my kids getting a serious illness or being in a bad accident. I can't even watch a TV programme where there is a sick child.

Very depressing thread or maybe my head space is not in the right place for this.....brought tears to my eyes

Biggest fear is burying my son......seen too many friends doing this and know full well I wouldn't survive.

Having had a life changing experience recently after a build up of society enduced stress, I've grown to be calm about mortality. Of course I feel for those loved ones left behind but I know that their lives were enriched in someway by my presence and hey life goes on we are here to live the best possible way and leave this world a better place because of us.

My last good deed will be to be buried wrapped in the roots of a young tree, give my body back in a meaningful way.
