I see on a few pictures on hotpics that a good few couples/ladies have their username on the picture and a small few have a copyright on it,my question is, is it for fun or to stop a certain university using photos or are they actually copyrighted,

It doesn't make a big lot of difference. I put my name on mine to stop others using them but 3 well verified forum users still "borrowed" them and used them on their profiles and in messages without removing my name.

There's no accounting for ignorance and stupidity.

And ours too. We even put fabswingers on them to try and limit the possibility of fake accounts being created across other lifestyle sites with our fab username.

I started putting my name on mine years ago purely because someone from the UK had been using my pics claiming them as her own.

somewhere

No matter what you do the names can be removed from the pictures anyway so just be careful with recognisable features

I have thought about this recently, and at least when it would come to fabswingers using other fabswingers photos, I'd have a solution for it. It's just complex.

As for other photos, it's really hard to prove whether it's stolen or not, at least to a degree
