Who has 1? Is it difficult to fly..

I just bought 1 and am struggling to fly it

I have one. Depending on the drone you have you can trim your controls to suit your flying style. I adjust mine for speed as I mostly shoot landscapes.

A great place to start is to find a nice quiet spot and fly back and forth/up and down trying hold focus on a particular image. Happy flying

They are quite stable, the original ones required a lot of input to keep them level, but newer ones are fine, DJI are one of the better brands.

Do get a spare battery if you buy one

Lad at work had one

We spend half our lunch breaks trying to retrieve it from fucking trees

And nearly took the head off a few inside the office with it

Needs a delicate touch to fly it

Set the return to home height at max.... otherwise it will get stuck in a tree..... Learn from mistake

Be aware of where you're flying it too, the Aviation Authority and Defense Forces etc will have strict no fly zones and some may not be as obvious as a busy airport.

Don't think so. Saw a video recently of a surveyor using one over a property. The owner of said property came out and asked him to stop but surveyor replied that while he owned the property he did not own the airspace above it. Obviously if they are being used to invade privacy that's a different story but hard to argue that properly.

I think they should be regulated for that reason or stick laws on them or something. I think it's just not right to be able to invade like this.

Reason i ask is that robbers were using them to see what is behind the house and if the property was vacant to break in.

I saw a drone flying close to the Army barracks in Athlone. It was getting a lot of attention from the armed sentries, who were also trying to spot the pilot. The rescue helicopter comes and goes all day from there, so it was very foolish of the drone operator.

I see people on YouTube deliberately flying drones over police stations as there is no law prohibiting it, I'd imagine Ireland is the same

That are regulated and must be registered if over a certain weight, there are restrictions as to where you can fly them.

All drones should be licenced and used for specific authorised purposes. I never understood why every Tom, Dick and Harry should be allowed to use one possibly endangering lives, causing nuisance and invading peoples privacy on many occasions. If used as a hobby, then should do so in authorised locations that don't cause these issues. I am off to play with my train set

Permission is required from the owner to fly above private property

You have to register drones above 1kg if you want to fly above 15feet.

Max 120ft

Cant fly above urban areas

Cant fly above more than 12 people but one under 250grams can.

Stay 5km away from airport, cant fly within 30m of a crowd. Also cant fly above national monuments.

Those are general rules. Class of drone may have few or more rules and commercial drones.

As for controlling a drone ,this is easy enough. Start at 2 to 5 metres altitude in an open space.
