I don't have highs and lows like that but then again I don't have big weekends or many nights out. This was just a normal week and weekend. I don't get bank holidays off and never have done in any job.

I mean do I have days where I'd prefer to be somewhere else of course?

But an actual come down from a great weekend not really. It's usually the opposite a great weekend energises me for the week.

Do ye not have bank/public holidays in Northern Ireland? Of you working you should be at least given the days etc

Leitrim & Dublin

That’s why you always need to plan an extra day off or something fun for the following weekend after a bank holiday to keep the buzz going. Nothing worse than back to work on a Tuesday knowing the next bank holiday isn’t until August.

In previous jobs the companies never closed on bank or public holidays. They aren't statutory days and were never included in any contract. We got 28 days a year off and that was it. In the current job there are only 2 of us full time so if I took yesterday off I'd have to work Saturday to catch up on the work.

28 would be standard enough here including Bank Holidays.

Sounds like they were build in just not on the actual days?

I'd say 20 annual leave days excluding holidays is the basic amount here. Is 28 days standard enough in NI?

I think it is standard. The nature of the business meant that holiday times including Christmas, Easter and Bank holiday were the busiest of the year so for more than 20 years I only had Christmas Day off and back to normal on Boxing Day.
