What has happended to us?

I recently got a whatapp from a group I am in and when I opened it it was a clip of a recent accident on the M50.

What has happened to us that someone make that video on their phone and secondly share a persons horrific death online. Have we become desensitized to grief and lost all respect?

Its so disrespectful hate seeing things like that shared, the thought of someone recognising their loved ones car etc on a video is heartbreaking

No WE haven't. You'll always have those scumbags completely devoid of empathy. Maybe they're Sociopaths or Psychopaths or whatever and they're more common than we realise. Heck I know of several 'highly respected' people in my locality who are like this. We should avoid at all costs.

I think its calling them out on it is key, stating your disdain in that WhatsApp group is denouncing it and making it clear to others in the group that you find it offensive and inappropriate. Part of the problem is not seeing the problem or calling people out for what it is. Ignoring it or saying nothing just let's this behaviour continue. Call the guy out on it,ok he didn't take the video but he's circulating it and is part of the problem. Call him out on it,better yet Call him out on it in the group.Let others see that someone is brave enough to only state it instead of ignoring it.

I used WE as a generalisation..it seems more people including media are prepared to share gruesome images without any empathy or consideration for the person injured or killed"

Well sed sometimes it takes one person to stand up to people or groups like this even it it means possibly standing on others toes. At the end of the day it's the right thing to do and you can be proud of that

If people on this site are asking to see the clip then equally call them out here, let people what types we are dealing with. What is wrong with people.

Was the person dead or dying.

I haven't seen the video but to show someone dying or just died is horrific IMO. Just let the person pass with dignity.

Newry Down

The judgement and common sense of some people has, sometimes, to be called into question.

They don't have the wit to know what to share, or not

What few have failed to realise is the person taking the video has his young son in the car and failed to prevent him from seeing the horrible accident by looking the other way, because he was busy videoing the accident. That's even worse to me. That poor kid is going to have nightmares for a long time!

Hey all

Unlikely all psychopaths ,, more likely are insecure and hoping to garner attention... or keep people at a distance...
