Hi everyone

I just want to share my story with ye lovely people.

3 years ago i lost my wife who i loved. Yes a very sad situation. Since then I’ve had my ups and downs.

Me as a person I’m doing good with the kids etc and i do my work to the best of my ability.

One of my main problems is I seem to be very quiet in myself which is not like me. I’m normally the person with the loudest laugh etc but now I’m just quiet like I’ve no news or nothing to talk about.

I do still go to the pub which i enjoy but i don’t interact like before and it’s bothering me big time.

My kids are grown up more or less and my house seems so empty at times

Anyway

I've no real comparison in my life so I haven't got much I can say or do to help. I'd just say that it sounds like you are a great dad and husband.

It sounds a bit like you're struggling talking to people. Have you got someone you can open up to? If not then consider counselling. You can do it on zoom really easily and having someone impartial and expert to talk to can be really beneficial.

Think it's lovely that you have opened up here and sorry for your loss. It sounds like you are keeping everything a float but you may need someone just for yourself as in the counsellor as suggested. Or maybe it will come back naturally. I found after you loose someone so close others find it difficult to chat to you and in a pub have the crack if there are one or two you know well at the pub just quietly say hey im still me we can still chat away and that you miss the crack. Either way i hope you meet nice people from here x

Not being flippant but time heals all is a very true saying some of us carry a torch for a lot longer than others but time eventually heals the wounds. While the scars remain it helps to change the assiocations like the places ye went together not a straight cut off but a partial change, a different crowd, a different prespective, the laugh will return as will the chat and craic but the torch will still burn.

In your post i feel your grief and by posting showing the strenght to face the future as a stranger on an internet site can only wish u well in the future and may it bring u the happiness u deserve without removing the happiness u shared

Sorry to hear of your loss,people grief differently and carry a heavy burden during that process.It may be a good idea to speak to a professional to help you move forward and to cope or understand things better. Never be afraid to speak to someone,it's what they do and they do help people. Best of luck with your journey,I'm sure she's looking down and willing you on your family on that journey.

You’ve taken right step in talking about this. Even here can be great to unload your troubles. Not at all similar but I suffered terribly from an awful pang of discontentment. Talk to someone buddy, you’re probably a little depressed.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my thread and thanks for all the advice. I feel some people understand but it’s very hard to understand it unless you’ve been there.

Anyway i think today I’ll take a spin to Killarney as i love the bike fest and the people there and the style.

I think worst case scenario we gave a few seconds of our time and empathy to a guy who from what I can read might have needed if it's attention seeking then he has worse problems I do t know if anyone could go so far to dream up being a widow if so the world is a far sicker place then I'd like to think. People have build entire profiles and forum reputations on here in the past based on being a widower. The word was even part of their profile name. The wife who was alive and well at the time wasn't impressed.

Makes sense why he incorrectly referred to himself as a widow and not a widower. I would suspect that someone who has legitimately and sadly lost a partner would know the distinction between the two.
