You have no idea how much I look forward to this date. But along with that comes the dread of the summer finishing. I really hate from Nov to March. I suppose this makes you appreciate the bleak.

What's the significance of the date? The start of meteorological summer?

It being Ireland, we're already a month into summer according to our calendar.

Celebrating the arrival of June 1st might actually make the one down worse than treating it like just another day

Ah now, I’m not dancing around a Mayflower bush in a flowery dress!! I’m just aware of the date. It’s not me that responds but it’s my mood!
