Also according to Quora:

A chastity device shouldn't be painful at all. If you're experiencing pain, that means it doesn't fit properly and could potentially cause injury or harm.

And...

More uncomfortable than hurts. However some devices have optional spikes that can be inserted so that when you get erect they will cause pain.
