Very true and did it without any government aided funding to boxing. I believe her local gym didn’t have a toilet until recently.

Politicians too busy funding the GAA to get votes to consider minority sports

Neither Connolly or Larkin were Irish.

Parnell was sleeping with another mans wife. An early day Faber

For me Irelands greatest would have to be Mary Robinson for breaking the glass ceiling in becoming president and for her work with human rights issues. John Hume for his work in bring peace on the island.

One person who deserves to be admired, nationally and internationally, is Roger Casement.

He was hanged for treason, but his long report on the horrendous regime that the Belgian King, Leopold, set up in the Congo did much to stop this cruel and barbaric exploitation, that Joseph Conrad also exposed in his book, Heart of Darkness, that was the inspiration for the film Apocalypse Now. Leopold's regime murdered 10 million and mutilated another 10 million. The Congo was not a colony of Belgium, but the King's personal land!

You opinion doesn't change the fact he was born and raised in Edinburgh, by all definitions that makes him Scottish. As I said, he did plenty for us but he is Scottish.

Imagine if I was born in New York, raised in New York but came over here at the age of 20 claiming I'm Irish, you wouldn't tell me I'm Irish, would you?
