The 4 available "categories" for Fab: woman, man, couple and TV/TG...

I (female half) have to admit that to date my assumption was that most if not all TV/TG profiles here are either cross-dressing males or pre or post-op transgender girls - correct me if I'm wrong as my intention is certainly not to offend.

I'm curious to know where are the transgender men here? Are there any? Where are those men who were actually born female and now either identify as either non-binary or he/his or are transitioning from being a woman to being a man, pre- or post-op?

Without going into too much detail - I'm curious because I'm trying to be supportive of someone close to me...and whereas I believe I'm doing a relatively good job at that, it would be interesting to hear from those who have worn the shoes, those who identify differently to their birth gender and/or is possibly going through the stages of transitioning.

Did you have a support network? How did your family react? Etc...

And I'm particularly interested in those who are born female but identify otherwise because this seems to be a lot rarer than men who identify otherwise...

I love fab, but it handles this VERY badly. There needs to be more categorys. Someone who is searching for crossdressers isn't searching for trans men for example. It's kinda late to the party already. This needs addressing.

I've got no advice on this person close to you other than to spread the message of acceptance and love because this shit isn't easy for them or their loved ones. Good luck.

I agree. The categories are not sufficient (neither are the options for more specific searches). I wouldn't be surprised if people who are different are peeved off that they don't get acknowledged with their own category to make it easier for them too!

And thank you. It isn't easy, I wish more people were more accepting and understanding...

Yes I agree. There should be a clear distinction between transvestite and transgender people, rather than lumping them together in the same category. Although most transgender people are well capable of making it clear on their profiles if they are pre-op or post-op, or they are currently in transition.

It's very difficult for some people to find acceptance, finding yourself struggling in an alien body and being grouped in a category.; with Alan/Deborah,who jerks off in his mum's panties! It could be disconcerting.

In saying that I hope that Alan/Deborah has the decency to wash their mum's panties before putting them back.

Plus , ain't nothing wrong with anyone doing whatever freaky stuff they want, just please make sure you fit in the correct category

Okay, in seriousness,it is a minefield and I am trying to find my way through it with one of my kids. We use humour, i worried first about people treating them correctly but now I worry about them finding teenage love. Life is hard enough for kids these days but for some it's really difficult.

I hope your child finds their path. It sounds like you are supportive. If a certain use of humour works for your child, that's great. My daughter is on the spectrum also, which makes that a little bit more difficult as things are much more black and white than the many shades of grey in-between!

There are support networks out there. Transgender Equality Network Ireland is one, should you ever find yourself in need of more information, support or help...or indeed your child.

I'm sure it can be quite an emotive subject depending on who you are, what your views are, how open-minded and accepting you are.

The purpose of my post was not discussion of what's what. It was to find people who have first hand experience either with gender identity/transitioning etc or with supporting someone who is or has walked the path, preferably someone who was born female and wants to be male as this seems to be rarer than the other way around.

Ah I trying to be polite instead of saying it’s bit of a culture war topic and turns into a polarised left v right shit fest

But yeah does seem to be a lot of fellas transitioning, maybe the archetypical male ideal is so rigid and there may be a bit more leeway in the woman’s side of things
