There's definitely so.ething working on my system: headaches, runny nose occasionally, very sore throat, swollen glands, stomach cramps, inflammation in parts of my body....

But it's nowhere near as bad as the first dose that I got at the end of 2019: a rasping cough and when I lay flat in bed I could actually hear myself trying to breathe; a loud gurgling sound from my lungs which was very scary

I decided to tough it out, as I instinctively knew I would eventually recover.

On occasions, I simply could not get out of bed: I felt like I weighed a ton and had zero energy.

From my analysis, each variant is more easily transmitted, but is less virulent; less dangerous, but each variant has also progressively weakened some people who succumb.

There will continue to be deaths indefinitely : same as the normal annual flu that we have to live with; boosters and annual jabs will be essential to keep immune systems as strong as possible.

Not positive and never have been, but I'm sick with viral sinusitis yet again. Daughter is also sick with similar symptoms and also testing negative. Some of my daughter's friends are positive and my boss is positive. So who the hell knows...

This current variant isn’t showing up on antigens, Omicron 2.

It does show on Antigen but from what I can see it's taking 2 days off symptoms till it shows. Also lidl antigen tests are crap if anyone using them.

Keeping my fingers crossed here having gone two years working straight trough, going into at least ten houses on average a day wearing a mask from my arrival untill I am out the drive way washing my hands at each house using paper towels to dry them and sanitizing as i get in the van

Being imuno compromised and living with a person that has had her imune system destroyed by illness and would catch a cold if it passed on a bus I am glad we havent to rely on the health care system to look after us with covid as we use the system heavily for other ailments on a regular basis

Nope. I had one last Sunday week and I only had to wait 3hrs from when I went online to book. They also signed me up online and organised for my family to have antigen tests delivered for free.

if the PCRs are free and I was very sick, I'd be getting a straight PCR. I wouldn't be bothering with antigens at all

I don't agree with some of what u say but it all comes back to covid showing the inadequacy of our health system. also id wonder if alot now don't know what a "bad home sickness" is and are panicking and going to A&E because the fear thats been driven over the last 2 years with covid. if we're going to be living with variants for months and years to come, you cannot keep jumping back into restrictive measures each time a new one arrives.

There is certainly a number of people on this forum that shout and scream rubbish as often as they can, what it does is stop many lovely other people contributing. We all know who these clique are, there the ones who desperately all skuttle to agree with each other and tell their own horrible stories of woe.

Now back to covid, it is a cold, and you are absolutely correct,people have forgotten that we always caught colds and flu and we got on with it, and weirdly it's very prolific in winter, when we are confined indoors more. Why would anyone give a crap now, all we here is thank god for the boosters otherwise it could have been worse ! Christ on a bike what brainless rubbish.

Hiding from a cold, stopping your life for 2 years for what ! If you live to 80 you've given up 4% of your life for a cold! People are brain dead, it effects the sensible because we are forced to adher to populism, stupid populism.

I 100% have COVID fatigue but I remember the height of it and how family members were either sick from it or too vulnerable to spend time with and I'm glad that we had restrictions. It all could have been much worse.

I wouldn't disagree either. It really depends on the degree to which any new variant effects public health though. Fingers crossed any new variants are less deadly. I don't think anyone here was advocating for more lockdowns.

Just after taking two rapid tests just to make sure 100% but both fucking things have came back positive ffs! It's just so frustrating as i thought we were all over this crap at this stage. Bit of a sore head and temperature lastnight so i thought it was the responsible thing to do and take a test as i work in retail and i feel 100% fine and healthy this morning again it's so frustrating.

Don't have it and never have done that I'm aware of. Testing regularly as I'm in food production and every single lft and pcr has been negative but felt like shite since Christmas.

Business had to close as it's home based and everyone living on the premises tested positive. One of those, despite having no underlying health issues has been hospitalised and is on a heart monitor and possibly require a pacemaker as a result.

I'll deal in factual events rather than respond to some of the slobbering that goes on here.

So we currently have had 1,413,798 cases in Ireland with 1170 deaths. Which basic maths says the death rate currently stands at 0.075%. Now granted we take into account the successful vaccine and the lesser variants. To even suggest and sort of return to any sort of restrictions with a death rate of 0.075% is quite simply astonishing.

How is it a flaw? Never said anything about restrictions not working but on current understanding and after what we have done. Its now simply a cold.

The major problem now, and it's laughable is the Civil Servants taking weeks off to get over the cold and we are paying for it. That's the issue in the HSE, they get covid and they can't go to work, our stupid processes and the bed wetters are the cause of all this.

How's covid coping in countries like Sri Lanka or the Ukraine? It's terrible it's not even considered, maybe we should send them our fancy coloured cloth masks - they will fight famine and Russians but are useless against Covid I don't agree with some of what u say but it all comes back to covid showing the inadequacy of our health system. also id wonder if alot now don't know what a "bad home sickness" is and are panicking and going to A&E because the fear thats been driven over the last 2 years with covid. if we're going to be living with variants for months and years to come, you cannot keep jumping back into restrictive measures each time a new one arrives.

Only its not just a cold there are many people suffering with long covid 2 years after infection.. A simple task will leave you breathless and bed ridden with exhaustion the next day 2 years yes 2 years after infection.. Brain fog.. Head aches panic attacks you name it..

First of all I'm not anti Vader, nor I am an anti vaxer.

I actually celebrate the choice that people have and encourage everyone who wants to get it to do so.

You would drop dead at the idea that I didn't wear a mask at all, not even once through this whole time while I was testing positive too!

On a serious note I had fucking chemo 6 days before I tested positive for covid, actual chemo. Like the stuff that kills you if you're not strong enough to take it.

I've been isolating at home for 6 days before I even tested positive, nevermind a week after.

Do you really think I'm dickhead enough to go around spreading it?

We both strongly believe in life where you do whatever feels right in life as long as you do no harm to others. Covid falls into that bracket - we're lucky that we eat right, take all the vitamins and live an active life, so covid as well as many other illnesses don't really stick to us, but we both are very much aware that others might not live by the same rules, and/or just aren't as resilient as we both are so we don't go around spreading it.

Thanks for your assumptions though, I absolutely love seeing how people online behave and just jump into assuming the worst

Apparently you can test positive on an antigen for up to 30days after. If you need a negative for work book a pcr.

Literally almost half of all positive cases don't even have any symptoms at all which means they wouldn't even know they had it if they weren't getting tested, which also means that many more millions of people who didn't have to get regularly tested for work, school or family had it with zero symptoms, so yes, willy's statement about people who aren't vaxed being totally fine is very much true and not bigged up in any way.

"Wait for the story now about "a friend who's super healthy & fit who got seriously ill from Covid". This super healthy & fit imaginary friend.

My town

25 Yr old daughter healthy out eats healthy and don't drink or smoke and its a gym addict. Fully vaxed, she's in bits has a cough on her like she's smoked the last 40 yrs it's knocked the wind out of her. My grandmother 94 had it and no real complaints felt like a slight head cold.

Had the covid in March/April 2020 when it first arrived here, and the only symptoms I had were an irritating dry cough that lingered for ten days and then disappeared thankfully. Because my immune system did such a great job of protecting me and eliminating the virus from my system, I just decided to skip being vaccinated. I hasten to add, I'm not anti-vax, I'm pro choice..My body, my choice. I have been in close contact with several people who tested positive, including two who ended up in hospital in intensive care on a ventilators. I've had a barking cough for the last week, had several antigen tests all negative. Thankfully my oxygen saturation remains at 98%, so I guess it's just a common or garden upper respiratory tract infection.
