What is the etiquette/ opinion on a greeting someone when you meet them for the first time over a cup of coffee?

Handshake, hug, peck on the cheek, lips? Or is it contextual?

Depends on how the chats went IMO. I’ve had meets where the guy is way WAY hotter than his photos and I’ve wanted to hop him.

Sometimes it’s just a hiya! Sometimes it’s a kiss on the cheek!

Just do what feels right.

Obviously you will be on different levels with different people, so there's no rule fits all.

My best advice is not to expect a bj and drink coffee in actual coffee shop and not in car parks (this crap is being suggested by way too many men )

Handshake a little formal for a Fab social

I (herself) go by instinct. Really depends on how long, how detailed been chatting, what the first impression is when actually seeing someone in person.

But a "hi, lovely to meet you" is generally a good way to go .

It also depends on how they carry themselves and approach me.

With some people there's just absolutely no inclination to go in for a hug or peck on the cheek, never mind the intimacy of lips!!! With others, a hug is absolutely welcomed

Possibly a little more difficult for a man, what with boundaries and all... definitely no one fits all situation!

I know what you mean

Youll probably know from how the conversation has gone on here or other platforms.

Usually a hug and kiss on the cheeky for me

Usually a handshake and peck on the cheek. The latter is important so you know they smell nice.

Had a couple of Covid times coffee meets where there was zero contact lol

Kiss on the lips would not be welcome from a total stranger, neither would a hug.

No expert on meeting someone from here but pre-covid i would always greet people with a big smile, hug and kiss on the cheek. Lately its a awkward wave from a 2m distance

Most coffee socials I have had usually shake hands and just chat however was one where we had chatted for a while and as soon as we met we kissed, hasn't happened since. Has been a hug at times but again been chatting for a while.

Hey! How’s things? Would usually extend my hand for a handshake with a man. With a woman I would reserve a hug or handshake for a parting gesture.

Any ive had is usually, "Hello, how are you? Thanks for coming" then see how the chat goes. Some really nice gents asked permission to give a hug and kiss. And if they didnt and i liked them enough then i asked permission. Usually on saying goodbye though. The asking of permission goes a long way in my book. Shows manners and not assumptions
