Limerick

I've received six texts so far this weekend, five supposedly from 'AIB' and one 'BOI'.

Has anyone else been bombarded lately?

A quick reminder NEVER to click on the link in the text. Log in the normal way if you want to check. Mrs

Its the calls that are a pain in the arse

My number is a business number so answer all calls and lately feel sorry for the Indian women with their script to con me

Feel sorry for them having to work in those jobs

Got a quote from an insurance company (online) and low and behold I am getting messages from a dating site.

The insurance company sent me the quota by text and the dating texts came in on the same number.

I thought all this was illegal now?

Yeah I’ve had two or 3 in the last week

Got a text that I’d been flagged as a close contact for Covid and to click on the link to get a test sorted....

YES!! Buckets of them. About 9!!! So annoying. But what’s worse is that my Mam and aunts get them and are genuine concerned. So hard to keep telling them “DONT TRUST A TEXT”!!! Makes them feel very vulnerable.

It is illegal to a point but the complaints procedure is such that it takes so long and is so fecking complicated that no one does much.

Its the dating text tricking your phone to use the other number as far as I know

I get them via my number stored in my phone for BOI to trick me

Yes, my mother is notorious for clicking into stuff she shouldn't, but she's learning the hard way. Signing up for useless premium services has to be the greatest "legitimate" scam going.

I don't answer a call or text that I don't know to be a definite contact, and even then, I'm not always sure. The scammers are getting very sofisticated.
