So I'm listening to a podcast this evening while driving home and it discussed what we see when we look at a photo, if I look at photos of other people, I notice if they smiling, laughing, if they have that sparkle etc however when i look at a pic of myselves i find the faults. And i think the majority of us are guilty of this, the things we don't like about ourselves because of what society pushes us to believe is acceptable, what is sexy, what is not.

It hit me hard is I'm definitely guilty of this, photos should me about memories of the people, of the things we doing. So if you are willing to join me post a pic that you would normally not post. I celebrated my birthday yesterday and had a lovely night in a hotel, now I did shed a few tears of what I think I may be missing but this morning I took this pic and reminded myself life is but a fleeting chance to make memories and laugh

They say a Camera never lies BUT who really gives a toss about it , IF you look at too many photos it just might make you critical of yourself , live life and make no apologies for it.

Dublin City

There is enormous work required on your mindset to changing how you see yourself. You have to dig right back to where your expectations of yourself went so rigid. It’s perfectly reasonable to place the blame on social expectations and family pressures.

Whatever you figure out, re-realise and see yourself how you are now as being perfectly fine.

It’s a huge undertaking but it’s incredibly cathartic. It also serves to allow yourself to strive for something different without it changing the core of you.

DD, the core of you is pretty fucking awesome. The sooner you see that the sooner you’ll be able to accept it and make any changes under your terms. And it’s a lot easier when you already love yourself.

Naas which is South West of Dublin

You’re right DD, most will find the faults and flaws much more quickly than seeing the good things in our own selves, bodies and pictures…

I would have always, and still am, very conscious about my body, but I am equally conscious of my mind and my soul…..

It’s not that long ago that I wouldn’t have even thought of taking any kind of photos of myself, of any kind, never mind the kind I take now…..

And post them ….

I know how I look isn’t my best feature, (it’s clearly my dazzling personality….. ) so I think I might as well have a bit of a laugh with it, and hope that people see that and that I probably don’t take myself very seriously……..

I can’t post a picture of myself that I wouldn’t normally post because it would include my face, and I crop it out because I’m holding my breath so much when I take photos I look like a free diver trying to set a new deep dive world record…….

As Red said, start with the head….
