If accurate reports of Putin having pressed the nuclear red button were brodcast, and there was a verified nuclear blast in Ukraine, what would you do?

As far as I know the lifespan of Iodine tablets, which are designed to mitigate thyroid problems is actually very short.

The inadvertent nightmare scenario I genuinely fear is that a thermobaric missile hits the new dome that has been built over the crumbling Chernobyl sarcopgagus, at massive expense, and unleashes the residue of the exploded reactor's fuel into the atmosphere.

That would be a truly apocalyptic scenario.

Sure that would suck... but it would suck for Russia more than for us, and so isn't a great move tactically for Russia

They were sent out to every household in ireland in 2002 in case of a nuclear emergency at the Calder Hall (Sellafield) or Chapelcross reactors in the UK, amid fears of a terrorist attact on UK reactors (so called "intelligence" at the time raised the alert level)

The biggest risk at the Windscale site (named after the local village in Cumbria) is the material stored in the ponds and at the THORP facility.

Thorp us the thermal oxide reprocessing plant.

When Calder Hall was opened in the 1950s, by The Queen, the publicity boast was that electricity produced would be free.

Then the fire happened, and everything changed; one of the designers had wisely suggested the fitting of filters, who h saved many lives in Ireland. Winds blew fallout towards County Louth and the increase in cancers afterwards has been attributed to the Wind scale fire, allegedly

What could you do only suffer the consequences?

Putin isn't the villan he's being made out to be, it's very convenient how the real story isn't being told, the US are funding bio warfare labs in Ukraine, who would want this on their doorstep, can you imagine if Russia funded bio warfare labs in Mexico, how would the US react? They would invade straight away, the truth is not being told in western media and the real victims here are the innocents dying in war women and children even russian soldiers only children themselves at 18 or 19 not even shaving yet.

The bigger risk, in a warzone is carelessness, accidents and mistakes. Its unlikely Chernobyl would be deliberately targetted by the Russians, as it would result in an own goal, with appalling consequences. Am i naive to think that nobody will launch the first nuclear missile?

If the largest Ulrainuan nuclear facility with six working reactors (five of which have just been temporarily turned off) was to be deliberately attacked again and the sole working reactor damaged beyond repair, there is a possibility the other five could go critical, melt down through their bases and disperse so much radioactive material throughout Europe that a vast area would be made uninhabitable for many thousands of years.

Accidents happen in war and malicious acts are also possible too. All it would take is one nutter, or the coordinates of a target to be entered incorrectly.

Russians set no value on human life; they lost tens of millions of their army and citizens during WW2.

Callousness is ingrained into the Russian culture and consciousness; and Putin is at the peak of this pyramid of greed.
