Hi there, I'm curious to know what people expect from a party and what they think they should pay towards the costs.

For example e.g. party, sleepover and breakfast, how much?

(Party, not social)

Depends on the party and clientele €150/200 ?

It depends in the circumstances. If accommodation is hired then the costs for thay should be shared with the attendees. Likewise the costs of food and other items bought for use at the party. There is nothing wrong with organisers taking a small amount for their time in organising either. It's important that everything is clear and up front and everyone knows the costs involved and they can decide if it's something they are comfortable with.

Also some parties will go all put with very high end accommodation etc and the prices will reflect that. Others might allow someone to crash on a floor or a sofa. It's hard to generalise.

Depends on venue.

Depends on sleeping arrangements. Do you get a bedroom or couch?

We usually just book our own accommodation so room and board is separate from other costs

Yep, i agree. Totally depends on venue and effort that you put into it.

The house I rent out has 12 ensuite bedrooms, but people (singles) do end up sharing a room.

I only charge €30 and the amount of people who think this is expensive is laughable so I'm just interested to hear newbies perspective on this.

Nibbles and breakfast, ice and water all provided. Seasoned party people snap my hand off

Up the price to filter out the timewasters. €30 for B&B with private room is very inexpensive

That place in

People think partys and socials are free but as you know you got to pay for the place your renting out that been an Airbnb or function room in a hotel, takes a lot of planning to host a night, cost does depend on where you go,you can't be out of pocket

On fab I found you have to travel and pay for events and it's worth it, meet some amazing people

So €30 is nothing for B&B for a night and you get extremely well ran party also

We never hosted any play parties, but what you're experiencing is actually quite common.

We've been called those things too lol

If someone can't grasp the amount of work and money that hosting and organizing takes up - you don't want them as your guests as they'll obviously not appreciate what you do.

Have a good one on 12th x

So if going to a party that ur invited to let us know.

- do u bring or own alcohol?

- expect to stay ? Or book ur own hotel

- bring any food?

Or is this all stipulated by the guest if invited?

Cheers all.

Amend your prices . Don't entertain the begrudgers.

When I think about it we have often payed to go for a social party. Booked a hotel, probably have used a taxi to and from not to mention paying for drink and have never complained. Not made of money either but it doesn't happen every weekend and always had a great time.

It all depends on the host and where the party is and the size of it.

Yes you bring your own alcohol

Most places cannot / do not accommodate overnight, unless it's a small party. Mine are always between 30 to 50 people.

Most hosts provide nibbles but with most parties few arrive empty handed

The host provides condoms but again never arrive to any meet or party without your own.

I think 30pp is really reasonable especially when you factor in staying the night. We spent hundreds staying in Dublin to attend parties.

We did attend a party locally once and we didn't stay and we were asked for a small donation of 10euro per head to cover condoms food an snacks. That was extremely reasonable too great party also x

30 quid abd they get to stay. Some people are never happy.

I have paid over 200 quid to stay in a hotel for 2 nights to attend a social on one of the night.

There will always be someone giving out, either you charge too much, your making money etc but let them try and organise a party.

If you rent an air bnb for any large group you are charged appropriately, you often have to pay a deposit. If you rent someone that's anyway decent you can bet your stressing about something getting damaged etc

I know from speaking to people who organise socials and parties the work that goes into it, the grief and hassle that can be involved.

Way I see it if someone has an issue with the cost tell them jog on as I'm sure plenty willing to pay it, I have heard nothing but good things about your parties, and will get to one this year x

You need to up the cost of attending. €30 is too low for accommodating plus including breakfast.

Don't under sell yourself and be left forking out a big balance for hiring a venue. You should also charge a non refundable deposit with the amount of dropouts that do happen for parties and socials, leaving you short again

South Side.

I used to host parties at a Dublin venue. There were two of us organizing, and it was a full time job the day before , the night itself and cleaning up the next day. We provided nibbles, some drinks , and condoms, hot tub , sauna, and massage. We had to pitch the price quite high just to break even, but we got a good mix of appreciative people. I see on the UK forum lots of people complaining about €20/€30 being too expensive, but the demographic must be different there. Id say it would be hard to break even at €30. And hopefully there would be no damages to pay for.

Having attended a couple of your parties and seeing the effort, food, supplies and amazing work you put into hosting these parties and only asking for €30 and this includes a place to crash....anyone whinging needs their heads read! I wouldn't give a dam if it's a blow up mattress, a couch or fecken bathtub! Christ it would cost most people more for a taxi home after a night out. 30 euro are you insane. Jesus that's for nothing all that preparation to get it to your standards, the stress of getting the right people not just for the mix of ppl but ones who will respect the accommodation and the clean up the next morning before you hand over the kegs.
