West Cork

I understand peoples lifestyle and ways of dining have changed over time. But growing up we would sit together as a family on Sundays and eat like royalty on yummy food prepared and served by our brilliant mammies.Im just wondering how much those dinners differed and what were peoples favourites?Mine was 'Sunday' boiled ham(with cabbage boiled in the ham water)

Steamed potatoes so floury that the skin was hanging off.

Marrowfat Peas that were steeped overnight

Carrots that had green leaves that were cleaned and chopped before boiling.

Ohhh the smell in the house as we returned from Mass(no need to comment)

Every plate was finished and cleaned by our hungry mouths and this was followed by a little silver bowl of Strawberry Jelly and ice cream. Its the little things in life that we remember most and are so dear to us

Just wondering what Sunday dinners other Fabbers remember from their youth.

My town

Boiled bacon and cabbage, my little heart used to sink when I came home from dancing on Sunday afternoon to that smell. Sitting at the table and it be rolling round ny mouth while trying to swallow BUT, being told "Now eat it all up its lovely"

My favourite is sunny roast with all the trimmings
