Avoid Dublin. It's grand but its just a generic large town at this stage. And prices seem to be rising on everything all the time.

Any time we go away, we head west. Sligo, Galway, Clare, Kerry. The more "touristy" a place is, the more expensive it is overall but there are still some good deals to be had and nowhere in Ireland is as expensive as Dublin.

And if you're heading west you could fly into Knock, Shannon or Kerry airports.

Beat of luck and enjoy whatever you choose.

Dublin is full of interesting things to see and do. Kilmainham Jail, Phoenix Park, IMMA all very close to one another. Chester Beattie Library and the Dead Zoo in the center of town.

Dublin City

Dublin is rocking at the moment. There are a huge range of excellent restaurants and bars, there is the Guinness Brewery, the museums, the Chester Beatty as someone else mentioned, Collins barracks, Trinity college, Glasnevin Cemetery if you like history, the Botanic Gardens. There’s a couple of very cool shopping districts. The luas flies you around the city and the DART can take you to Howth and DunLaoghaire really easily.

You can do an overnight really easily from Dublin in Kilkenny and Belfast, both are rocking towns.

It’s not any more expensive than some of the more uppity towns like in Kerry and West Cork. Jurys is a great place to stay and pub grub is easy and well priced if you shop around.

Absolutely hit me up for pub reccys where there is good music and fun. You could easily do a few days here and not be bored.

Newry Down

Try Northern Ireland too, including the Giant's Causeway, which is worth seeing; but not worth going to see!

On second thoughts; Kerry, Galway and Donegal are stunning.

But Dublin is just an expensive urban sprawl!

County

Kilkenny is a nice city in the day. Can be rough.

Galway good craic for a session.

Waterford is pretty good aswell.

Corks a bit expensive but grand.

Dingle, caherciveen or the lakes around killarney are the best bits of Kerry. Avoid the touristy shops and you'll be grand.

Dublin has a ton of stuff already mentioned above. Again avoid temple bar. Glasnevin cemetery tours very good aswell.

Belfast up north's well worth a day trip. Short motorway hop from Dublin.

Wexfords pretty enough but not sure if there's too much to do.

That's most of the island covered
