The positives of lockdown

OK so I know it wasn't easy but is there something positive that happened or you learnt or will takeaway from the lockdown?

For me I cleared some debt

Changed my working hours - dropped money but best decision I made for my physical and mental health.

where the wild roses grow

The world slowed down and gave me time to breath and to appreciate life.

And with time on my hands I got proper fit again

No traffic on roads as I still worked through but it wasn’t hard work. Normally I had to do a back road rat race. That will be back soon. I enjoyed the first lockdown more. It was lovely being at home with family, and could still drink wine!

Good to everyone getting back to normal!

Inflation massively up. Interest rates will follow. Repossessions after that. We are headed for a shitshow

I have found peace in mind, got motivated to do some academic things which i am actually so happy about. I worked on myself more as a person mentally and emotionally and feel in a far better place now. Paid off debt aswell not huge amount or anything but still paid it. I got some household things done painting, installed a shower, new wardrobe and chest of drawers things that really needed to be done. I wrote in my journal abit about covid and how life was during it.

Managed to get some DIY jobs cleared off my ever growing list. Dee managed to get back running and cycling which I think helped a lot during the first lockdown when she wasn't working. Also helped me see just how stupid a lot of people are. Crazy what people will believe when certain things are taken from them and minor inconveniences are put into their lives.

Somewhere in Co. Down

It made me appreciate my friends and my family so much more and not to take anything for granted .

I worked through it and it made me realise what a fantastic team I work with also especially when things got really tough in work,we all pulled together and helped each other through some of the toughest days I've ever experienced in any job I worked in.

Saw my family and true friends more.

Out of sight out of mind dropped some dead weight

But I was working and grateful that I could do it from home.

"OK so I know it wasn't easy but is there something positive that happened or you learnt or will takeaway from the lockdown?

Great question DD!

I got some time to properly think - about where my life was at and where it was going. Made me reassess my priorities.

Got some fairly big projects done, which I couldn't find time for pre-lockdown. Achieving them meant I reached a level of contentment I didn't think was possible.

Also, I got a lot fitter. Saved up a fair bit of cash. And I discovered fabswingers!

I realised the job I was doing was not good for me, so I changed to a better one.

Lost quite a bit of weight too, between being more active and having time to eat properly.

Got to explore local paths and places I've driven passed every day.

Realised the importance of real friendship and how toxic fake friends can actually be.

Made changes to my working life in early 2019 which didn't quite work out but covid and furlough meant yet another change but for the good this time.

I was already earning below the national average and now earning even less but I only answer to myself and my quality of life has improved immensely.

Hate this rush back to so called normality. For me lockdown allowed me an extra hour in the morning to get fresh air that I would have spent commuting. Likewise in the evening. Why is there such a rush to get back to the office. Is it just to protect the real estate portfolios of people who must have been sweating about all the empty offices. Normality means packed buses, trains and trams, less time for yourself and more expense. Yes the pandemic was awful but positives emerged which should not be thrown away.
