How are things in Ireland just now? It doesn’t get reported on over here.

I’m hoping to have the chance to visit Tralee next month.

Are you asking about level restrictions or level of risk?

Restrictions in particular. And just the current situation in general.

"Restrictions in particular. And just the current situation in general."

High number of cases steady hospitalisation though past the peak of omicron hopefully.

Pubs and restaurants close at 8 ans you will need a vaccination cert to dine indoors.

Could be different but the time you visor I'd advise checking in closer to the time

Omicron appears to be peaking about now or very soon. Proof of vaccination is theoretically required for entry anywhere and all events must end at 8pm until the end of this month. All pubs and restaurants must close at 8pm as well.

Proof of a booster jab is soon going to be required.

I wonder when we stop with that cert nonsense. By now you either had Omicron, the booster or the vax. The two latter can still get and transmit Omicron. So what's the point of the cert?

What’s the point? Keeping government busy and provide a distraction from real problems. Very convenient.

Whatever about the restrictions here at the time. There is never a good reason to go to Tralee unless you're just driving through to go somewhere else. A truly awful town.

There are far better, cheaper and nicer places all over Kerry than Tralee.

Thanks but it’s for a work related meeting. A one night stop.

When things are back to normal I want to spend a month exploring Ireland. I’ve been there so many times for work, met some great people, never for a holiday though.

Fingers crossed.

Ah, fair enough. Enjoy so.

Not a huge scene down there so maybe contact people in advance to arrange a meet in good time.

Double vaxed and boasted and right now isolating after testing positive

No pcr tests either way if you are resident in Ireland and part of the common travel area.

Like many large County towns Tralee has problems but generally is ok. Prices are not the worst when compared to Killarney or Dingle but it has a few decent Hotels and Pubs

If you have time there are some stunning beaches nearby, Banna, Inch or Derrymore.

One of the top 10 Golf Courses in Ireland and access to the Dingle Peninsula for Surfing, Sailing or Hiking

I guess you mean covid not cert. Again even with the vaccine/booster you can still get and transmit Omicron. So the whole cert harrassment doesn't protect anyone when going somewhere so what's the point of the cert but to exclude a tiny minority by now?

The impact of covid is greater on people who aren't vaccainted. If the cert didn't exist and there wasn't a need for it to access services then realistically uptake on the vaccaine would be far lower which in turn would mean the impact on hospitals would be far higher.

In other words the cert is nothing else but a camouflaged mandate to get people vaccinated, it has nothing to do with keeping people save in any hospitality/event venue.

92% of the population above 12 years are vaccinated, Omicron has just swept across the country. What do you think how many of those 8% haven't had covid by now?

Let's assume 4% - should we keep the cert nonsense going just to get to those last few?

I know plenty of people who said they weren't going to get the booster because they already had the cert. They obviously all changed their mind once they found out the certs were going to be updated and a updated cert would be required.

That's the reason to keep the certs. Immunity only lasts three months and the booster doesn't last forever either.

that's the whole idea. certain things you won't be able to partake in unless you're vaxed/boostered.

Agree with this. Town has changed significantly over the years. I grew up there. It was nice back then....but only go back to visit family now. Poster is right about killarnry and dingle tho.

Not sure what the swing scene is like down there.
