He expected special treatment because of "who he is" and fair play to the government/judge that hasn't not bowed down to that attitude.

He was detained in a hotel which is apparently like a prison. They gave him the visa initially. The reason he has been deported is more political than medical.

He lied on his visa application.

Australia has zero tolerance when it comes to immigration, customs, excise.

It's not difficult to go to Australia, but mess with the process and you're out!

It was the Australian authorities who fucked up first. Not saying Novac is innocent in the whole drama and I'm certainly not a fan of his but there was faults on both sides and the final decision is purely political, namely to do damage limitations on their home turf with an election coming up in May.

i travel all over

Being embroiled in this nonsense for 2 years (see the tournament he hosted in June 2020 when the majority of the world was in curfew) suggests a sense of entitlement.

I don’t have a huge issue with his vax stance . It’s silly but shouldn’t be mandatory IMO. Many elite athletes have been in bubbles and getting special measures anyway . I think he could have played and been relatively low risk of transmission .

But the combination of a country so hard to get into its customs offices have a sky TV programme about them, and an entitled sportsman was always going to end like this

They have it to him initially and like in every other case they investigated and warn if false information is given they can revoke the visa. They put him in a hotel, maybe not a fancy hotel that he is used to

And when they found out he lied through his teeth they made their decision

Nobody asked him to take a jab.

There are consequences of not taking one however, and rightly or wrongly 25m Australians have had to adhere to the rules so why should they be changed for a tennis player?

I assume all these people who moan about people not being allowed enter a country because they dont have a vaccine are as vocal about the billions of people worldwide who arent allowed into other countries or territories purely based on where they were born and what "passport" they have

The non vaccine wasn't initial issue as they gave him a visa medical exemption.... its only because of the non disclosure of trip to Spain its been revoked.

Newry Down

Of all the nation states Australia is one of the strictest about allowing visitors or anything which might jeopardise their human population, or their flora and fauna.

I have always found this draconian policy, which is ruthlessly implemented to be rather ironic.

White settlers, from Captain Cook onwards have killed tens of thousands of aboriginals, directly and indirectly, and importatations of rabbits, camels, cane toads, etc., have caused mayhem.

The international tennis star come across as a narcissistic asshole; the Australians now have strict rules about keeping out anyone or anything that poses a threat to their population, both indigenous and otherwise.

So much if what has been said in here as little to do with why he was sent home but more about personal feelings and opinions.

Australia certainly know how to return a serb...
