Dublin Airport and negative covid tests

Has anyone flown recently and had to do a PCR test? Did they check it and was that before you boarded the plane or after you got to border control in the airport?

I'm debating getting one professionally done as it will cost €200 euro and I've heard they don't even check at the gate so I'm thinking what's the point if I can just do antigen.

I've had a family emergency so I have had to fly back to the UK but I am worried about what might happen if I don't get one done. But I don't want to throw €200 I can barely afford down the drain if they don't even bother to check it.

in the waves

I've not flown to the UK specifically but ive gone other places and your documents are most certainly checked. You won't be let on the plane if you don't have the required test or paperwork.

The rules are constantly changing so make sure you check exactly what's needed.

Agree with the last post. Test are 70-80 euro. Dont know who quoted you 200 but go elsewhere.

Naas which is South West of Dublin

Randox have a test centre at the airport, I’ve had my tests checked at both departure and arrival but keep an eye on the news, this is going to be scrapped shortly.

Have a look at the RTÉ website today. They are talking about scrapping PCR/Antigen as long as you're vaccinated

A friend flew last week to the US and just came back two days ago from there. The PCR was checked at each airport. 70 quid for the airport one. 230 dollars for the one in the states

Thank you for all the replies.

And there would be 2 of us, and £99 each where we would fly from so it would be £200.

I've just seen the news anyway that you no longer need a test to come into Ireland so feeling much less stressed about it.

Tipperary

in future if this stays, it takes the enjoyment out of going away. you're away for a few days letting your hair down but in your mind you have the thought that u need a negative PCR before u return. for me, it kind of ruins it.

Dublin west

It's gone anyway for the moment but you can get them for 39 pounds in the UK and results by midnight.

Never been asked for it at immigration but always checked before getting on the plane to Dublin unless you fly london city airport on Ba and they don't usually bother. They ask have you it done but never check.

But it's gone now anyway so don't be stressing
