I love them but hate when they puke on my bed. Still. Clean up is easy and wouldn't change them for the world.

Anyone think the same?

Yep, we've got 2 rescues. 1 is a German shepherd who had a horrible bad start to life and he completely wrecked the place multiple times in his first few weeks with us. Cost us 100s to clean and replace blinds and stuff like that. Cost us a new couch. Multiple dog beds cos he kept ripping them up.

But we stuck with him and he stuck with us and he is here curled up beside me on the couch snoring his head off.

Bliss. And I wouldnt change a thing.

Great story. If I was allowed I would be a dog man like that famous Irish lady Sharon who I often met in Galway. Me with four dogs and her with at least seven!

My favourite dog is a Korthal's Griffon; I had a half-breed one for 16 years. Greatly missed.

The dog I would hate to own is a Pedro de Presa Canario, or a Tosa. The former has a reputation for killing their owners.

The cutest dog is a Dandie Dinmont Terrier, and the quietest dog is a Basenji: it doesn't bark.

And finally, the largest natural breed is the Ovtcharka; it can grow to 100kg+.

Dogs are great companions and dog owners are usually really nice people to interact with: friendly, caring, interesting, and some swing!

WTF!! Never heard of any of those breeds. Prefer a mongy/ Irish breed/ small dog myself. Don't mind being nipped but don't want to be eaten!

We have a rescue. She’s amazing. She’s so so gorgeous with the sweetest temperament. And the prettiest face. She’s incredibly gentle and a great guard dog. She’s also exceptionally stupid but it’s ok cos she’s pretty.

I actually stopped chatting to a guy on here once because he said he didn’t like dogs.

Aren’t they!! My hairyboo is snoring here next to me. I found her tickle spot recently and I can’t stop doing it and watching her react. It’s so funny. I’ve had her over 10yrs and I don’t want to bear thinking about losing her.

I have found dog lovers to be much nicer natural normal loving and more pleasant people. Maybe it's just me but when someone reacts badly or with harshness to my dogs then that's it!

Best dog ever and she cleans the cats, more than they like but hey, she hasn't had pups yet.

Almost as loyal as German Shepherd but less hair and stronger. Nobody's coming into your home when you have a Rottie

They're a brilliant dog but I just can't do the hair thing.

Rottie sheds twice a year and it's ridiculous but other than that,nowhere near as much as Shepherd.

A handy tip is to put seed oil in their food, it helps their coat keep healthy, but yeah, I could comb her for an hour and she'd still have plenty to shed the next day

Love this thread! I’m a dog lover too & volunteer for a dog rescue charity. My 2 furbabies are my life, I’ve always said when I rescued them - they rescued me. They know when I’m having a bad day. They’re so loving & playful that I prefer their company than humans!

I sleep with my guy and he wakes me up to puke or drink or go to the toilet.

Nudge nudge with a big fat wet nose will wake anyone up.

A big bull mastiff in the bed beats any hot water bottle either on these winter nights

I love my dog ...when my first dog died 2 yrs ago all the kids were roaring as he was put to sleep

I held it together till I got home and then cried a bucket ....

6 1/2 year old collie retriever cross that I got from a rehoming centre. A hair shedding slobbery dumbass with 0% loyalty, he actually nuzzles any woman who comes here, and would leave with them just as quickly

Twat...

Love him to bits.

Never gets on my bed though, dogs need to recognise a boundary.

I let my dog out for a wee in the morning and carry her up to my bed for 20 mins every morning while I shower and shave and carry her down again

Other than that she's never on the bed as she can't get up the stairs anyway

Aww that is awfull sad bo I dread the day, they are a fantastic wee dog. She is no bother at all, I've a small cage in the car and she goes everywhere with me.

Ye mine used to come everywhere with me The job I had at the time I was allowed to bring my dogs with me. She was always perched up in the passenger seat watching the world go by.

Hopefully you will have many more years with your little one.

I’m a dog person through and through , have a Pedigree Australian labradoodle , he would practically talk to you , fully house trained , very loyal ,

The nights I’d bring back a girl to the house I’d put him outside the bedroom while we’d have sex ?? there would be several rooms for him to sleep but he would rather sit outside in hallway against the door till morning ??

Hate to be pedantic, but even if you cross a pedigree labrador with a pedigree poodle, it's not a pedigree labradoodle, never will be!

The designer breed thing was a disaster in my opinion, certainly in the North, as it fuelled a surge in breeders farming out the poor bitches almost to death and charging a fortune for genetically suspect pups. Many of these pups ended up being given up to animal shelters when they didn't turn out as expected or the kids got bored of cleaning up after the ill advised Christmas present.

I'm not saying "designer breed" owners are bad owners, but at least recognise the animal for what it is.

The kennel club have recognised the Labradoodle as a pedigree dog, therefore it is a pedigree.

I love dogs, but I would never buy or acquire one if the fashionable breeds such as a Pug or French Bulldog.

Because they are brachycephalic they can have breathing problems.

Mixed breed dogs, or mongrels have the inherent benefit of hybrid vigour.

When my friends see me interacting with dog owners they are amazed at the ease with which the ice is broken and a chat initiated.

I have only been bitten once by a dog that had acquired the owner's trait of blunt irritability.

Have two fur babies. German shepherd and a westie. Both cuddle monsters. The westie is truly one of a kind. Very loyal which is unusual for a westie. The other day when I wasn’t well after the booster, they both wouldn’t leave me alone. Stuck by my side all day.

Second set of GS and Westie, had these two breeds for over 20 years, best family dogs.

Love dogs but Andy cannot be around them due to severe skin and respiratory issues when coming into contact with dog hair.

We couldn't live together until my boxer passed away a number of years ago, yep my dog was number 1 in my bed before my man lol

Oh and we have a best pal who has same issues as Andy with allergic reactions to dog hair. As our pal is blind he has a Goldendoodle as a guide dog to overcome the issue. Their hair is allergy friendly and can testify this to be 100% effective after many successful tests by petting.

Shedding from Goldendoodle is almost non existent

There are a couple of hairless breeds: the Mexican and the Chinese, but I don't think they could be regarded as being attractive. An acquired taste, inevitably.

Some dog breeds are now classified on a scale of how hypoallergenic they are, but I am sceptical about this.

She spoilt rotten

This morning she barking at 3 am I got up to her she wanted a drink.

Then cause she saw me started Barking after I went to bed....

She's currently asleep on the sofa .

The modern Bichon Frise is an attractive lap dog, but its ancestor the larger French Barbet would be more my style.

I was very fortunate 2 years ago to be asked to walk a little French bulldog for a friend who bought the dog but didn’t have the time needed to look after the her……she is now my little fur baby, the most beautiful friend I’ve ever had and I would give my life for her. She has brought me so much fun and laughter and when I walk her she just wants everyone to stroke her and pay her attention.

I consider myself extremely blessed to have such a beautiful little animal in my life who has the most wonderful temperament and the looks of a film star…..She’s definitely the boss!!!

If you’re serious about this please let me know. I’ve a German Shepard who is 3 and I’m finding it difficult to get someone to look after him. Big house baby is all he is.

Nope, not in the UK. According to the KC website anyway.
