Anyone watch the Christmas Special tonight? I thought it was good tonight..definitely better than the Halloween live. Betty was looking well on it.. Lovely tribute at the end to their colleague who passed away from covid too.

He must be doing something right if he's able to put on shows for the last 10 years. It's a bit of fun on a Christmas night.. the show isn't harming anyone.. and as someone said earlier, if you don't like it.. then don't watch it..simple as.. but no point commenting that its shite or whatever if you haven't watched it. There's a lot of begrudgers that doesn't like to see people doing well unfortunately Some people are very quick to criticise the show and ask for it not to be shown anymore but at the end of the day, he has lots of staff working behind the scenes and I'm sure a lot of them rely on wages coming in from this show..

Mrs Browns Boys is a BBC Sitcom filmed in the UK.

The only Irish things on RTE prime slots for Christmas Day was fair city rubbish and repeats of Killinaskully crap from 20 years ago.

a pile of shite in a irish field plopped by an Irish cow . It's all still irish but the fact its irish doesn't detract from the fact it's still a pile of shite. The pile of shite in the field has many comparisons with Mrs brown and neither are worthy to be classed as cultural and worthy of our supporters

Dont watch it at all as think its vastly over rated, but in terms or brendan I do think fairly highly of him, never forgot where he came from and does alot for charity and svp etc so if some enjoy his show, get a laugh, he and his family makes a few quid and he supports local Irish charities then whats wrong with that

Whatever about the show I've known him since the late 80's when he was on the road with a band called The Blues Brothers and he was sound then..had some work dealings with him

Now when he plays here every few years he makes sure one full day of show takings go to The Saint Vincent De Paul....I think 300k each time....thats a good thing to do

It's also a great PR thing to do. I always find it difficult to take the likes of Bono and Brendan O'Carroll seriously they pontificate about charity while making everyone effort possible to avoid paying taxes.

Philanthropy may be completely unnecessary or certainly less so if governance around taxes was better .

Instead it becomes a vehicle for some to have great PR whilst simultaneously avoiding or even evading taxes .

A couple of years ago in the U.K. out of the top 10 richest only Dyson was paying tax

I simply do not like Brendan O'Carroll's style of humour; Gay Byrne was quite fond of him and he appears with Joe Duffy on occasions, such as Grafton Street, Christmas Eve.

But there is an inherent insincerity about him.

I gave up watching it a long time ago. It's one joke being flogged endlessly and isn't funny anymore.

It's not as if we're short of other channels to watch though so maybe use that remote for the purpose it was invented and switch over rather than getting your knickers in a twist.

It's very easy to avoid an artist/group/comedian/celeb these days. Just watch or listen to something else instead of feeling triggered.

There are lots of movies or TV shows I've never watched simply because of who's in them.

There are lots of threads I've never posted on simply because of who starts them.

There are lots of threads I've never posted on simply because of the subject matter.

Freedom of choice is great.
