A very different year, working right through all of the lockdown but it was like a bubble as soon as work was finished we entered lockdown. Then the taste of freedom with a vaccine and a Spanish holiday just to have our hopes dashed by the new restrictions

On the plus side the back garden never looked better and we’re eating our own home grown veg for Xmas dinner tomorrow

The year started of very different to usual years for me and that was with the exception of covid. As the year went on I got health news I really didn't want. The year had one day that was so good with someone close. The remainder of the year was basically forgettable. Who knows what next year has in store for us.

But always look forward never back.

Like all years it's had its ups and downs.

Personally it hasn't been the worst year in recent memory I've definitely had more high points than low.

I have alot of sympathy though for those who have struggled big time economically or emotionally this year.

A rollercoaster of emotions, a lot of internal reflection, clearing out the toxic, keeping close those who are true in their intentions... essentially a rather lonely year - but it was needed and thankfully I tend to be an introvert anyway.

The first six months of 2021 was really stressful but thankfully since the end of summer it's been excellent and long may it continue

Its been a roller coaster for a lot of people, I made one of the best decisions ever to come off shift work. I've struggled at times and have very lost at times but i have made some great memories but fab and vanilla ones, I became a unicorn and kissed a girl made some new friends om here too.

On the whole I had a good year. I got to visit parts of ireland I hadn’t been to before and met some wonderful people alone the way.

I didn’t get to buy the house this year but I’ve an ever growing deposit hopefully resulting in a lower mortgage.

Work continues to grow with this being quite a busy year and great potential for next year

So things might seem to be moving slow they are moving in the right direction.

Bring on 22

Newry Down

Socially, a nightmare.

The second half was great as I was able to return to my normal routine after more than fifteen months of restrictions.

The first half of the year was like being in a permanent state of limbo; life put on hold, but lots of time to reflect, and re-assess life to date.

Hopefully, we don't return to lockdown in January and that meets and face to face contacts, that have been on hold, can resume.

Overall, 2020 was a very much worse year than 2021; dismal and depressing!

Started off fairly horrible, went back to Fab and met some amazing people. Went to PDI on my own, again met some really great Fab people. Shared all this and my home crap with a friend who was my best friend and confidante. Today his partner rang me to say he had had a heart attack and not made it. Just when everything was coming together for me I realise it more important whats happening for others. Crap year now, live life and be nice to people. Sorry for being a downer

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your best friend! I hope that you have a good support network to get you through this time - and that you can be there for his grieving partner too!

First half of the year was good, middle was heartbreaking & the last 4 months I've never been happier.

I would like to stop working from home but thats not likely anytime soon & career opportunities are coming with my pma.

I have learned from the downs, celebrated the highs & realised that I'm actually a pretty ok person

Somewhere in Co. Down

It's been okay. Some very tough times especially in work.

It's been a year of having some amazing friends and family who kept me sane and made my year a much better year for having them in my life.

It's was a year that taught me so much and made me realise I should really stick with my first instincts as they are usually right.

The lack of managing to get away for a break even for a couple of nights wasn't easy but hopefully next year that will change and the couple of times I did get away for a night were worth it.

But I suppose all in all it was an okay year and I've learnt a lot, cried a lot at times but laughed a hell of lot more and that's always the best way and hopefully next year will be better for everyone.

It was ok, my summer hols on the continent made all the difference and were fantastic, seeing my parents after two long years, going to restaurants and festivals, sun bathing and swimming - in other words it was like balm to the soul to escape Holohan & Co's threatmill for a while.
