In telly last night was a TV show about family owned toy shops in Ireland. Will admit I was in tears and it's the first time this xmas I have felt any Xmas spirit.

When my son was small lived going to toy shops and his collection of hot wheels and Thomas the tank engines it shows we went a lot.

It got to me to thinking of toys we wanted and got when we were young. I wanted one if those doll heads that you could do makeup on

I can’t remember wanting any particular toy but two that I vividly remember was a train set and a Lego technic jeep. I loved that thing, i could put it together without the instructions eventually after smashing it off so many things.

saw it too. Tugged at the heartstrings a bit surely. When I was young Britains models were the biggest craze, very detailed. Remember Matchbox cars, Majorette done lovely ones too. Also Hot wheels followed later by Bruder and Siku. Kids now seem more into gaming and phones and I- Pads, those were the days.

I remember when Domino Rally, Scalextric and the Evel Knievel stunt cycle were the height of technology. Fuck me those were the days!

Enfield & Dublin

Tonka made heavy toy trucks that were epic. I loved them. Eventually the plastic deteriorated and they got broken but all the tin work remains. They are still on the market today.

I always wanted a Raleigh Chopper bike but I never got it. Wrote to Santa more than once for one.

I wanted a Cabbage Patch kid. I moaned so much that my mum eventually bought me one when I was 18. Her name is Arlene Gloria.

One of my cats sleeps on her now, I dunno why, she's weird

I always wanted a scalextrix or a Hornby train set but as "girls don't play with cars or trains" ment I had to wait for my wee brother to be old enough to brainwash him into asking for these from santa

Ah a manipulator in the making back then eh? Looks like we need to be careful around you.

I remember I got a Rock Lord figure, God this shows my age. Of course everyone got one, to prevent fights. Lost my one and spent many hours over 10 years looking for it. Sadly only 2 of the figures have survived to this day. Sisters and older brothers.
