Ideas for dealing with fake profiles

Posting due to continually reading updates about the increasing fake profile issue and people taking breaks or leaving because of it.

I've a more kinky and open minded sex drive. Joined fab because I honestly think it's the best place to meet like minded people to explore, experiment and fulfil kinky fantasies and help people fulfill theirs.

Unfortunately there are difficulties getting to make use of opportunities on the platform. Fake profiles seems to be a big issue causing a cautious approach towards other genuine people but I do understand why. Have a few ideas of like to see introduced. Would like to hear what everyone thinks. Would just like to be able to chat and so on free of any worry or fear that who I'm talking to is genuine and not a fake profile.

# Photo verification can only be obtained by facial pic

# All profiles must complete photo verification within 30 days of joining or profile deleted.

# Or going a bit further like restrictions on messaging and other features until photo verified

# Perhaps a bit much but a £100 deposit on joining, refundable after photo verification. Or even £50 refund following photo verification and £50 after a meet verification from a well verified profile.

I believe that the actual genuine people that joined to use fab for what it was intended for would like to see this issue dealt with.

Would like to see something done to tackle the fake profile issue because it's ruining the chance for many to make use of what the site was made for. Also for well established and well verified users it creates reluctant and cautious approach to profiles that they do like and would be interested in maybe meeting one day but dismiss because they don't feel comfortable or safe doing so.

First time posting and hopefully won't be criticised too much but just my view and ideas on creating a fab site that people feel safe using and ultimately lead to having more fun with genuine people

Agree with your suggestions until u mentioned the increase in fee.

I think the mandated pic verification and making it an annual or even twice a year renewal (as i have found that when some couple profiles split, the guys keep on the couple profile pretending)

Also a mandated meet verification by end of 1 year

For a site that is essentially free, unless you choose to be a supporter, the best approach is to sharpen your antenna and use your judgement.

I am verified in one respect, but not otherwise verified by having met an already verified member.

Covid has been a nuisance!

Their may be frustration with fake accounts but the only thing I would recommend is if 'X' amount of people report a account to be fake they need to do another face pic.

Holding €50-€100 per new member no one would want to be responsible for that. Plus I believe that it would drive people away from the site.

Next to tackle meeting verifications. I have seen many posts of people trying to meet up with people but failing.

Unless a Fab Officer is employed and responsible for going around to meet and verify people, you can't rely on it.

I apologies if it feels like I am shutting down all your ideas. But I am merely stating my opinion.

I applauded you not only stating an issue but also giving ideas on how to fix it.

Sorry guys. I'm not looking to increase fees. A payment that is refunded once photo verified. £100 perhaps a bit steep. Even £20. Will act as a deterrent for people creating fake profiles because they will be unable to gain photo verification therefore lose out on £20

Photo verification doesn't have to be of your face. Can be a body pic with need to show face. It's just some ideas to start a discussion on making fab better for everyone

Na your grand. Wasn't expecting people to agree with me. As I said a fee that would be refunded a bit extreme and perhaps £100 is a bit steep of course. Have had a few chats I've later discovered profile not genuine or profiles with questionable verifications

The best way to deal with fake profiles is to use common sense rather than ask the site owners to do all the work for you by changing the T&Cs.

Assuming for a second that all the suggestions put forward by numerous fabbers over the years were accepted and implemented, would that really change how people approach others?

Would you really be naive enough to believe that all those face verified, deposit paying members were genuine and above board with no agenda or would you still take precautions?

If you find you are continuously chatting to fakes, timewasters, fantasists, drama queens, whingers or having regular no shows you need to look at the common denominator which is yourself.

Look at how you vet those you engage with and ask why you keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different outcomes.

*Non verified people shouldn’t be able to see photographs of verified people

*Non verified profiles should be disabled/deleted after 30days

I wouldn't have photo veried if I had to use a face pic and I didn't photo Veri for almost a year after I joined here.And just because a profile is photo veried it does not mean they are genuine anyhow. And as for the suggestion from someone else we have to do it every few months not a hope would I.

As for charging a fee I also don't agree with that. I know I wouldn't have joined here if I had to pay first and one as ridiculously high as what you think would put most people off.And who would be considered well veried how many would someone have to have to hit the magic number ? It would also mean those people would be inundated with messages from others who wanted to meet just to get a refund which would cause even more issues .

Fake profiles are usually pretty easy to spot on here especially if you have been on here any length of time.Inconsistencies in chat should not be ignored but quite often are as people get carried away at the thought of a meet. Pics that look too good to be true. Reverse image is your friend on here. The site even has filters you can use so unveried people can't message you if you want you can use that.Utilise them and other filters on here.The site can only do so much and no matter what they do there will always be fake profiles.

I’m not photo verified and never will be. I don’t see the point of it at this stage for me and I never pay any notice to the green flag, it means shit all imo.

Fake profiles do not ruin the site for “genuine” users. Only you have control over how you’re perceived on here and how much effort you put in. Use the site correctly for you and don’t worry about what others do.

As a “well established” and “well verified” member, none of the suggestions above would make me treat anyone here any differently. I form my own opinions about people without relying on icons on their profile.

I’ve no idea how they can keep doing this! I’ve seen numerous profiles which are clearly the same guy making them and verifying them. And nothing seems to be done about it

The images all look fake as fuck as well. Not sure how anyone falls for it tbh.. i’m just assuming were talking about the same person but i’m going with every profile that has ever verified fundaddydom is fake and he owns it.

Maybe the administration aren't using the notes feature to keep track of people lol. You just have to go with your gut feeling about someone. If it feels right and they are verified by people who you know to be real, or at least are quite sure are real. Then it shouldn't be an issue. It's the people who hide or don't show their verifications ar the ones I wonder about.

The fake people/profiles will always find a way to be on here.

I had a stalker on this a few years back that would do just that. Every week another profile would appear that happened to know roughly where I lived that would get verified ridiculously fast by one of three different accounts (that I suspected) he built up.

Probably the worst person I've ever met on this as well - I felt like going into the witness protection program afterwards due to his behavior making me fear for my safety. It still freaks me out how he could be trying to figure out where I live.

I've had a handful of bad experiences on here spread over 5 years.

None of those involved fake profiles.

They did however involve fake people hiding behind well verified but deluded profiles.

They take a bit longer to dig out.

I just don't chat anymore on here really i go to parties so i much rather that. Because i also have come across well verified people being fake. At least at events people are there in person in reality easier to get to know people.

I think the people who dont pay the very small amount for site suppoter shouldnt be able to send or receive messages or use the forums and have very litle access to the site , 30 days should be enough for anyone to look though the site and see if its for them , then their profile should have a block on it until the site supporter is payed and photo verification is done , since Fab is providing a service , just like any business , pepple should pay the very small amont thats asked , and people who crib thats it should be free bla bla bla , maybe should not be on here

I find it useless to send messages.

Maybe a membership could be organised within 15 days, something like that.

That’s easy for you to say if you are well verified. What about the likes of myself who is a genuine man looking to meet up for a coffee to get myself verified? I’ve been here a couple of years now and at the start I wasn’t really bothered about getting verified but now I’m in a better position to do that and I’m trying to get a verification.

Got contacted by a profile last week and straight away something didnt feel right, despite the profile itself looking normal. Conversation moved to kik. They sent a face pic, we said we dont do face pics due to our jobs, conversation ended, all good.

Yesterday they message again but their previous messages didnt show up for some reason so I didnt click the connection straight away. Bit when they asked to move to Kik again I copped that they had sent us different face pics.

I mentioned it and they said it was a couple they had met and sent their pics by mistake.

I just blocked them and reported the profile and I see its been removed today.

I'd work on instincts more than anything. I've always been a pretty good judge of character in life and online but I always trust my gut. I think I've only been wrong twice ever by going with my instincts and I can live with that

If its a couple your looking to meet ,ask to speak to both on the pbone when they are together , thats what we have done alot , unless we know someone they met , works a charm really ,as ya get excuses ,misses is gone shopping or in the shower etc , yeah right , and if they have kik ,we will only do a 4 way chat ,not a 3 way.
