A dangerous world still.

I've just watched the Salisbury Poisonings on Netflix. An account of what is, in essence, a chemical weapon attack on a sovereign country by Russia. Novachock the most toxic man made substance ever, used to kill indiscriminately.

That, and the fact that 100,000 Russian troops are massed and poised on Ukraine's border, with all their tanks and weapons of war. I fear we live in a dangerous world. Troubling. I just want to live in peace with others, as I know the overwhelming majority of ordinary people do to. Is it too much to ask for peace?

Americans protecting the world, hahaha hahaha ha........

John Rambo and Chuck Norris

Money is all America is interested in.

Russia will do what it wants as will China.

Sure you might as well start thinking about all the comets and asteroids in space hitting the planet as thinking about this.

Sorry, rant over.

Fuckin America me hole, I blame Hollywood

"Twas ever thus. "

Hello Casey and Lee. You are right. It was always a dangerous world. But I think it's got so much more dangerous.

For instance take just two countries, India and Pakistan. They are at sporadic war with each other over the disputed territory of Kashmir. The latest border fighting between these two countries was earlier this year with fatalities on both sides.

But these two countries each have atomic bomb. They have enough atomic weapons between them, that if they go to all out nuclear war, these two countries alone can destroy civilization on this planet. This is a reality. Human civilization could be ended by these two currently warring nations alone.

That was not always so.

Its a sombre thought. Perhaps maybe I should just concentrate on swinging, on wonderful sex, and on sharing gorgeous intense orgasms, and the sun on my naked body.

I thoroughly agree. The best advice is to avoid listening to apocalyptic news broadcasts, and scaremongering newspapers.

I definitely have my criticisms of the U.S and such, but without a Doubt Russia and China are a big threat to world peace.

Russias eventual invasion of Ukraine seems to be a distraction for the economic crises they are facing. They done the same with the Invasion of Crimea in 2014.

And, you also have China in which they will eventually attempt to invade Taiwan.

Both are Democratic countries with good ties to the West.

Russia needs to be heavily sanctioned, and if it comes to it Ukraine needs to be armed by NATO powers (Although I Hope it does not come to that)

I do not think Russia has the might or financial power to take control of Ukraine. But it is without question alarming.

You do know Russia could kill the price of diamonds with less than half it's store of same?

I think Russia has a lot more financially than many are aware of.

... which would be pretty silly of them to devalue the other half

Kilkenny, but Dublin is more fun

For those fretting about things out of your own control, it's time to accept "post doom, no gloom" thinking where you just realise we are likely living in the second last generation of our civilisation's lifetime.

Total humanity ending war is very very possible but has been there closeby for decades since the cold war but the effects of human accelerated climate change is more likely to end us, when you think of the geopolitical ramifications of it properly. We're at the point where it's too late to stop it, and to even lessen the effects of it in the coming decades, we'd need to completely overhaul our way of life and give up so many things we've become spoiled with and taken for granted, making COVID restrictions look tiny in comparison.

That's not going to happen, so all you can do is look back and see how far we got in just a few thousand years, even though our own advancement is what ended us.

Humanity had a good run, and were only a century or two away from proper space travel.

This is sadly true. Look at what that far right mad bastard Bolsonaro is doing to the rain forest in Brazil. He is allowing accelerated burning of the rainf forest, essentially burning the lungs of the world. And for what? So that the huge cattle barons can create grass lands to raise beef cattle for burgers and steaks. All of which accelerates carbon and methane. And eventually even the grass lands are washed away without the trees. Profits before the Planet.

Not just Bolsonaro. While these right wing nutters are the main people who dismiss climate change as a threat and are speeding it up, wanting to profit as much as possible while they can, the main opposition to them is usually just centrists who stand completely behind neoliberalism, who may bring in small policies which hurt the general public while not doing anything too drastic to big business in this world so reliant on it.

I know I write this now in this world of instant global communication on a device people 50 years couldn't even fathom, but if our industrial revolution had come a century or two later, maybe we'd have had matured enough to not have this issue, or at least have addressed it earlier and easier.

Civilisation's main job is fixing civilisation's mistakes.
