"Interesting fact... February 25th is known as Monaghan day in Mohill in County Leitrim. It gets its name from St. Manchán who lived and died in the area about 1500 years ago and in whose honour a festival was held annually on this date. It was originally an earlier date but when the calendar was changed it became February 25th. Apologies for the intrusion, I just thought it was an interesting coincidence. Please tell me you didn't actually know that fact and that you googled it? T x" No need to Google it at all. I grew up in Leitrim, not far from Mohill and as a child I used to wonder why it was called Monaghan day. As soon as I was old enough I went to the library to see if I could find out. ![]()

"Have you ever looked up the word interesting in a dictionary Michael ![]() Ah sure look.. One man's interesting is another man's, well, less interesting, perhaps? It's a nice coincidence though, you'll surely admit. The last remnant of Monaghan Day was a fair, until fairs died out. It was then marked in the mart in Mohill with a Monaghan Day sale. ![]()
