I jus read a number of posts saying that die hard isn't. A Christmas movie .... Cop the fuck on! (sorry about the language). This movie has Christmas presents a Christmas rap in the opening and closing seen a Christmas party and many other Christmas references .... Also in most polls it is voted in the top 3 of all time. Who is with me, Die Hard is a great Christmas movie?

There's 2 types of people.

Those who say die hard is a Christmas movie and those that are wrong.

And it's more christmassy then child abandonment films like home alone

Dead body comes down in the lift with a Santa Hat on it and the sweater says "Now I have a machine gun Ho Ho Ho".

Despite what McClane was faced with he was still in the spirit. A movie doesn't get much more Christmasy than that.

Absolutely a Christmas film yes just an action Christmas film, I've heard people say similar about Trading Places not being a Christmas film but it definitely is too.

Totally agree about lethal weapon and trading places .... Totally qualify as Christmas movies ang great movies to boot. Love the link they made between trading places and coming to America.

The one and only true Christmas movie is the unsurpassed classic: It's a wonderful life!; which incidentally was not filmed during the winter at all, and it was ignored for years after 1946, until the copyright expired and thus it became free to broadcast.

Trading Places and Die Hard were scripted, designed and produced to be shown within Christmas TV schedules, but they have no direct connection with Christmas.

However, the superb animated film, The Snowman, is a Christmas film; broadcast on Channel 4 every year since 1982.

Finally, Die Hard and Trading Places are both excellent films; high production values, superb acting, supremely entertaining. But with no real connection to the Christian festival of Christmas!

Die Hard: a brilliant film designed to be shown on tv at Christmas, but not intrinsically about the festival of Christmas.

"No, its a movie set at Christmas, not a movie about Christmas so there. but not a bad movie even after all these years."

Now Mick ...if you were to apply this logic to most Christmas movies they would not make the grade. Your rationale seems to indicate, unless it is a religious or a Disney PG movie then it is not a Christmas movie... This is flawed thinking !!! Yes one or two people get killed ... But hey ... Open your mind ... There are more then one type of Christmas movie.... And this one is bloody (pun not intended ) great.

Newry Down

I watched it last night on RTE; a lot of Christmas themes have been specifically written into it, to ensure it become a 'Christmas schedule' fixture, but it could have taken place at any time of the year.

However, it is a film with very high production values, expertly scripted, very good acting, lots of drama and excitement; a well-rounded package of fantasy entertainment.

It will be broadcast for decades to come at Xmas; thereby fulfilling the investors' original goal: to generate ongoing income from a varied range of broadcasters who need to fill their schedules with a romp that advertisers will pay handsomely to have their messaged woven into. It's all about money;as the film was too!

Now if you really want flawed thinking then your post is a winner.

You seem to be assuming a lot about my idea of Christmas ?? with nothing to support you.
