Im shamelessly wearing a mishmash of clothes to keep warm, are legwarmers a step to far

What slightly embarrassing lengths have you gone to to keep warm?

Had someone pee on my hand once ...but at the time my hand was stuck to a steel bar at minus 25. So he did me a massive favour and neither of us lost any skin

What cold?

I’ve been going around in a polo shirt all day. Granted I had a long sleeve t shirt on underneath, a body warmer over that and a fleece lined jacket over that. Then for good measure a neck warmer and a thinsulate hat.

Snug as a bug in a rug

Thank the lord for modern technology

My parents tell me of the days where they were sent to school with hot boiled eggs in their jacket pockets to keep the hands warm...as well as lunch bagged

Warmth before style always

I'm a sight in my well oversized anorak walking about the house (at least 3 layers underneath), sporting a stylish headband to cover the ears...I won't talk about granny's bloomers - put ye off forever more

I was out on the mountains on Saturday. It was the equivalent of -12 with wind-chill. As the old saying goes there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

One of my hiking buddies tallied up what he was wearing and it came close to £1000. He hasn't thawed out yet.

My tally came to less than £100 and I was embarassed for him because I was as warm as toast.

WFH and waking up now since the weather has turned has been bit more difficult. I have started wearing a dry fit beanie inside and it does help.

Plus base layers, hoodies, shirt. WFH no one sees me so I don't care. Since storm hit I've been wearing two hoodies It's an older house so keeping it warm is difficult. So adding more layers makes sense. Plus sitting and not moving at a laptop you cannot keep warm naturally and you cannot concentrate when cold.

I used to drive a heap of shit van that had a broken heater. I’d fill up a few 2l mineral bottles of hot water before leaving home. They were super nice to hold on my lap and came in handy on frosty mornings when the screen wash was frozen. Winner winner!!!

I’m currently sporting a wide range of thermals. I have had detailed discussions with friends about the merits and demerits of various brands of leggins and vests.

I’m officially old now.

Sorry, should that read, “Tights, boots, and a jumper

Otherwise I have a vision of the tights going up over the dress and jumper, and wearing boots……
