Anyone else on night duty and losing the will to live yet?? Because I know I am.

Working in health care right now is sucking the life out of me.

I'm suppose to finish at 8, but all the staff that's to let me go has phoned in sick I can't leave till I get cover and back in at 9 for another night shift. I'd say I'm here for the day as well.

Just in the door from 12 hours shift can't get off the couch to go to bed body has given up also hate having to drive after so hard to concentrate

For health service workers at all strata, the work life balance has been skewed and the situation will inevitably worsen as demand for ICU beds escalates over the winter months, exacerbated by Covid and the flu.

One very burnt out healthcare worker here too never in 20yrs of working in healthcare havd i wanted to throw in the towel so many times but somehow you find thr strength to carry on if we can get through a pandemic we will get through anyrhing keep the chin up op we will get through it

I've done Nightshifts quite a few times to cover holidays etc and I don't know how people do it all the time my body clock goes all over the place when I do them and I never sleep right durning the day. Fair play to anyone who does them full time.

I hope your cover comes in soon op.

A lot of HC workers are burnt out or on the brink of it .But we will keep going and hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel in the new year.

Just finished mine (Mrs) was good enough shift but when doing the morning rounds few residents shouting nurse lol sick one thing I hate cleaning up is sick lol

Most of my work is nightshift and travelling can take upto 4 or 5 hours each night. It is a killer on my social life. But going to cut back in the new year by going part time.

Maybe I'm weird but I enjoy working shift and prefer nights. I worked office hours for over 10 years and changed companies and back to shift ( first time since my early 20s) and I'll probably never go back to office hours

I work nearly 10 years as a night-time taxi driver the money was better but the toll took on my psyche and my social life was not worth it as soon as I got a wheelchair accessible car I switch to daytime doing a lot of healthcare work.

Never worked a night shift ever. I'm a morning person so always preferred early starts and often started at 05.30.

One company I worked for had a 3 week cycle which involved starting at 05.30 on week one, 08.30 on week 2 and what I considered to be the worst shift ever from 11-8 on week 3.

I was up 5 hrs before starting work and eating dinner at 9.30 at night.

Fair play to anyone that does it ....I know that doesn't pay the bills but you have the gratitude of an entire country

Having spoken to a few of ye at socials and knowing exactly what you do I couldn't do it during daytime hours never mind a nightshift.

The very odd time I have to work right through a night I'm fucked for a few days

There are so many ready to quit it’s unreal. Morale is at an all time low and being kicked deeper every shift.

Used to work a three shift cycle and the night shift would wipe us out. Used to take nearly a week to get back right after it
