Do yours vary in anyway to your day to day opinions?

Do you argue them with more conviction than you would in person?

Do you find because they are written down for all to see you become more entrenched in them?

Probably guilty of not practicing what I preach. Not so easy when the shoe is on the other foot. Mrs

I voice my same opinions everywhere. Of course it's easy when I'm always right

I'm probably a bit more likely to express my opinion online than in real life. If I'm standing next to a human being then I might care more if they walk off in huffy disagreement because of rapport or interest we may have built up. Online I just don't care as much about offending people online because I can just put my phone down. That doesn't mean my opinions are different... its just that I might withhold them more in real life.

My Opinions are the same .

But discussions get less heated in person .

I have the same attitude to opinions I disagree with in real life. I will say my bit, explain how I arrived at my view , see if there is a more thoroughly evaluated opinion than mine , then agree to agree or disagree . If I am asked again I will say exactly the same thing I said before unless there is a reason .

Even vital things like persuading a relative in pain to get a joint replacement i no longer try to persuade chronically or intensely. This is how I see it and why , if you’re an autonomous adult you’re entitled to your views and actions . If they impact on me I may avoid you .

There are books like ‘mistakes were made but not by me’ that are terrific on this . If everyone acknowledged their cognitive dissonance it ll be a bloody good start

Pretty discuss and argue my opinions the same way online as I do in person. I do find people online are more prone to being more aggressive as in throw insults etc then they would be face to face.

I try not to argue online anyway because like ya said it's there for all to see also when you argue in person usually no else butts in with their opinions

I don’t argue online. If I do voice my opinion, I would say it in the same manner as I would to someone’s face.

The pub then supermacs ...

I never argue with anyone on any social media platforms especially on here, let's be honest we've all had that one kid in school that ate craft glue and put play-doh in there ears when you think these are properly the one's your having the argument with...

My opinions are the same. People perceive them with more hostility online though

That's actually a good point.

"My opinions are the same. People perceive them with more hostility online though"

Things look more blunt written down, without expressions, tone of voice and context to soften the blow

"My opinions are the same. People perceive them with more hostility online though"

Do you think this could be because someone might read a post and take it as directed towards them when it was a general observation?

Something that's clearer with the spoken word?

Could it at times be your own delievery that may be mistaken?

I know reading back some of my own posts at times I think ohhh that sounds alot more pointed than intended

I dont change my view online or in person. But having said that, its easy to be misunderstood on line and very easy for people to take different meanings out of what a person may or may not say.

somewhere

I find it very hard to make a point in any discussion on here as I have to retype words a few times to at least get the spelling right

Find it easier to discuss anything face to face to be honest

I don't change my opinions to suit online or real but I do change my opinions if Someone puts forward a better idea than me...if that makes sense

Yes it really is . If something needs clarifying in person you can do so straight away , online you might post , come back 20 minutes later and it’s mayhem

I personally dont bother with online opinions from strangers. I learned that the hard way after posting an innocent comment with regard to something (not on here) and the abuse was unreal. some people exist to ram their opinions down your throat and they are ALWAYS right and I cant be bothered with that shit on here or anywhere else.

You're not really wrong, but I know from participating on another forum for years that people were receptive of people that watered down their thoughts so much they were practically apologising for expressing themselves.

Being direct and straight to the point can seem abrasive to them when it really isn't.

There is a certain cohort who seem to roam every forum looking for personal offence in the comments of total strangers

Somewhere in Co. Down

My opinions on here would be the same as I have off of here. I try and put them across in both in a way that puts my point across and if someone decides to ask me about them or argue I will try and put my point across without being personal. If someone debates it and can't keep it civilised then I will just stop as I cant be bothered as there is no point in that case . And it can be interesting to see others views at times and I have changed the way I see things at time.

My opinions are exactly the same here as in the real world. The difference is that here I rarely get into debates over mine or others views simply because it's too easy to misinterpret what has been written. Then you end up having to explain and that rarely works or looks like you're backpeddling. Plus it's too easy to get annoyed online. I come on here for a laugh and enjoy reading most threads so the last thing I want is to end up in bad form because of a stranger!!

Face to face is different... facial expressions and tone of voice are very important when interpreting others views as are mine when I give an opinion. I'm always open to correction though. The fact that I'm always right is just a coincidence!!

Opinions are the same….whether to share/argue them differs greatly. Typing or more so texting, is not my strongpoint…too much spelling mistakes or difficulty on my part to communicate through text… so much is lost without the natural tone or inflection.

Also the opportunity to listen to someone else’s argument in real time. The art of conversation is a difficult thing to translate to text so I often just keep my ‘mouth’ shut.

My opinions are my opinions regardless of whether I speak them out loud or type them online but they may be perceived differently.

The only social media platform I have is FB. I don't post anything on there at all and never comment on other people's posts.

On here I have been attacked for giving an opinion or for actually having one.

I have made general comments about how I might react in certain situations but others have taken offence and seen it as a personal slur when it had absolutely nothing to do with them or even with anyone on fab.

I do tend to withhold opinions sometimes to avoid confrontation but that applies equally online and off line.

That doesn't mean I don't have them.

I've never had my opinion changed by any online conversation but have done in the real world.
