Which course...

Dublin

When you head out for a meal, which course is the most important and enticing for you?

For me, who'd have thunk - dessert

I'll look at the dessert menu before looking at starters and mains...I usually skip the starter although I'll browse the options. I'll order my main, eat half cos I just can't fit it all and make sure to have plenty of room for the sweets

Sometimes I'll opt for starter and dessert and not bother with the main... depends on who I'm with - I'm inclined to pick off other people's plates if they'll allow me, that is

Can only be the main course. Can't have the vast majority of desserts because I'm dairy intolerant and quite a few starters for the same reason.

Hate that! But I'd thought most restaurants would cater now for intolerances...

Just after a nice slap up meal and I didn’t go for dessert.

Most important would be the starter. A bad starter would turn me off the whole thing and if it was too filling then there would be no room for the main

Not a chance. The only options available in most are a fruit salad. I was in a number of restaurants on the north coast a couple of months ago and not one of them had any dairy free options at all. Some places do make an effort

Well I had waffles with maple syrup this morning for breakfast and was given out to because apparently it’s a dessert

I often have dessert for breakfast, especially if there is a fruit cake around. Definitely a guilty pleasure. Ive no sweet tooth in the evening so its Main Course that gets my vote eating out

Dunboyne

Couldn't be arsed with desserts myself.

Main course is primary focus but if starters look good, I'll have two of them instead.

Always have 2 courses, depends on the dessert options if I have one or not. A lot of places dont have anything homemade. If thats the case then its a starter and main.

Try being gluten & dairy intolerant…. Ridiculously difficult to find a decent bite to eat everywhere. Maddens me

Solero for breakfast today

Sometimes two consecutive ‘meals’ might only be chocolate

Normally a starter! Sometimes ask for a bigger portion of a starter for a main as they sound nicer than the mains on offer

on the hill NordWest of

It has to be the main course, although I could easily entertain myself on a Italian antipasti buffet for a whole feast.

I normally skip dessert.
