"Yet to experience it in real life but the movies definitely give a very rose tinted version" Some films also portray nightmare scenarios: the movie Fatal Attraction with Glenn Close is a perfect example of the need to be be attentive to red flags for personality disordered dates.

"Yet to experience it in real life but the movies definitely give a very rose tinted version" You've never met a real man. Romance doesn't need to be what we see in the movies. It's not the action but rather the reaction. Romance is whatever makes you feel the way you know the woman feels in a movie after some grand romantic gesture. It can be something as simple as a hug on a cold day. Romance is simply thinking of the other person's needs and going out of your way to make them feel good. As far as I am concerned, romance has a place here too. I mean what woman would not smile if a guy showed up for a meet and thought to bring her flowers too? At least that's my view on it.

"Yet to experience it in real life but the movies definitely give a very rose tinted version" Did your friend with benefits never do anything romantic? Buy you something he knew you’d love just cause, do something nice just to make you smile?

"......smile if a guy showed up for a meet and thought to bring her flowers too? At least that's my view on it." I must be frank. In my opinion, showing up with flowers would be a red flag; for what ? I am not sure, but I think it would make a meet feel uneasy.

Little gestures that show you care are the epitome of romance imo…unless you don’t drink tea and he wasn’t listening

Are you super allergic to pollen?

"Fuck I miss me a bit of romance... it's in the small things definitely!!" Couldn't agree more. It can only add to the mutual attraction. Unless he is clueless and does it in a slightly creepy way

"I once drove over seventy miles to deepest West Cork at 2am in the morning to rescue a friend with benefits from a charming man who became weird and argumentive when he couldn't please her sexually. What more da ya want? So please don't tell me romance is dead cos I must be the last of the old skool romantics. " See, that's the kind of thing I mean. I don't know how the night ended but I'll assume you did it purely out of a desire to help her. She had to have thought much more of you because of it. It shows you care for the person and not just the body.
