Borrowing dogs to meet women

Apparently, having a dog whilst out walking is such a great way to meet women, that guys are borrowing pooches from their friends which they intend to use as icebreakers, and to prove they have a caring nature.

Dogs are great fun, but have you ever borrowed and used one, and was it successful; or do you own a dog that you use as a conversation point in the local park.
