Was there something as a child that was rarely bought to eat or drink except if you had guests and is now always in your house

We never had orange juice...not even posh orange juice ..just from a carton

Expensive chocolate biscuits, but when my dad worked the beet campaign in the sugar factory in Carlow hed have to do over time,when he did he'd get a few packets of them to take home

We never had garlic or fresh herbs of any kind. I now include in most of my cooking.

I adored my grandmother but still am haunted by memories of her forcing me to take cod liver oil.

A whole salmon definitely poached from the lough and wrapped in a newspaper, mum refused to touch it but dad allowed us to watch him descale it, gut and clean it out, then chased us with the head, good memories.

I only ever remember having it during family events and usually not our own ones.
