Traveling from the uk

Can anyone help us please. We looking for information in traveling to Ireland next year. Neither of us have a passport but was told with photo Id we were able to travel. Is this correct and what forms of ID would be needed. Male half for driving licence but Female half hasn't. Or is it just easier to get passports. Many thanks for any advice you can give. X

Are you planning on flying? Alot of airlines require passports

Driving hopefully so we got transport or fly and hire a car. Somone said about just photo I'd but didn't sound right to me . I'm thinking passports going to be the easier way but always good to ask incase Somone knows lol

I used to travel back and did not need a passport.

If you are UK nationals you should be OK.

If living in UK but otherwise foreign national it could be an issue.

Sorry I thought I answered that. No your photo ID will work. Well driving licence will not sure what your partner has. But again some airlines will require a passport

Thanks very much for you help guys. Much appreciated. We both UK nationals and looking forward to visiting your lovely country, might just get passports and fly over and hire a car etc. Many thanks once again and hope to visit next year

AFAIK you won't need a passport for the ferry from hollyhead to Dublin and you definitely won't need 1 if travelling to from Scotland to Belfast on the ferry.. I've done it many times on an Irish drivers license and nothing was said..

UK and Ireland is a common travel area has been for centuries.. Airlines only ask for passports as its in their policy not law...

Hey. Very simple i’m in and out of the uk every month, get your passport in order and bring your driving licence if driving your own car bring insurance certs too, uk cops are busy guys and there is no producing it in 10 days stuff there. again if going out my car go via the north less work all round coming back. Southern ports and customs checks, just a load of fuss and drama. Enjoy your trip buying stg? You get more for your in a euro country.

The UK and Ireland are common travel areas, so, in orin iole a passport is not needed. However there are many carriers, airlines, ferry companies, who may interpret the rules differently, and ruin your holiday. Best to have passports, that covers all eventualities. You'll be very welcome, we have a beautiful, uncrowded country full of friendly people. The swinging scene is small and discrete, no full time clubs, but im sure youll get lots of offers if you put something up here before you travel. Enjoy the adventure.

Thanks to you all for the advice. Definitely just going to sort passports saves the hastle etc and look forward to out first visit to your lovely country and to meet some sexy Irish swingers
